Hoffman sucks but this is poorly edited. Caulfield passed him the puck from that exact spot and peeled off. If he had stayed in shooting position he would have had a great chance. Obviously not some kind of incredible play or anything but it’s clear what he was going for.

Let’s be clear….Hoffman can shoot…..that’s it.

Like I know that nobody like Hoffman, but this is just pilling up for no reason on the bullied kid.
Caufield just gave him a low speed pass right in front of him and was skating exactly where Hoffman made his pass. Since the pass was slow and the pass to his left was just so obvious, do you guys really think that it would have been a difficult stop for Otter?
Hoffman clearly look on his left and made a no look pass to his right where Caufield was going toward. If Caufield would have turn and ready to get that pass instead of turning toward outside the offensive zone, you can see that Otter had not yet made his lateral movement. That would have been a better scoring chance since shooting or pass to his left was just obvious and Otter was already in position.
Now I’m not saying that Caufield was in the wrong here. Just saying that it was a good ok play by Hoffman, it just didn’t work.
Cmon guys, there is plenty of bad stuff to point out about Hoffman. That’s just ridiculous to blast him because he took a chance on an offensive play.
