LOL… canucks fans thought a 75 year old guy was going to come in, take over, start a rebuild, get booed for doing so and walk out of his last 3 year contract with about the worst team in the league? Sad thing is… they DIDN'T do this and now? They are about the worst team in the league. As I said last year, the worst thing that could happen to this team was they actually turned it around under BB, sign all their guys and be about a bottom 10 team and here they are. And no, Allvin is not the 'GM' Rutherford is in all but title. So what now? Trade Miller? or really anyone else? To who? Who A) wants the players and B) has the cap space to do so? It is virtually 100% impossible to be decades of mediocre then all of a sudden be not mediocre with doing zero changes. The cup formula is this: Tank, 'get yourself a Makar' (or Seider etc.) Have a true decade of a Norris calibre D. Have young, cheap forwards, while at that time, ditch all your bloated deals (or wait for them to expire so you can stay at the floor and get higher picks) free cap space to get more picks for teams looking to clear space. HAVE A COMPETENT, PROVEN GM and go from there. VAN has spent years of dealing picks for players, then dealing even more picks to get rid of the players they dealt picks for. It's just not how it works. Virtually no one has won the cup without being tank for at least 3-7 years, usually around 5
So…. looking at going about 45-20-11 to get to 100 pts to even qualify for 8th (99 pts was 8th last year) which is about 1.3 ppg. Also under perfect health, also beating every team ahead of you virtually every time, no 'extra points' for the other team, no 'at least we got a point' games (or streaks of games) Prediction: 12th in the west, or, perhaps a nice run for optimism, don't trade anyone as season goes and in the exact same spot next year!

Can the Canucks be fixed? It appears not nearly enough without MAJOR roster moves and some sort of rebuild. Whether they can prove me wrong remains TBD.

The current lineup is actually quite good. So no rebuild is needed, just improve the d which everyone knows. This team can win, just look at last year. Don't panic…geez

Have been a fan since 1994 during our 1st Stanley Cup Run when I was in High School, it's tough but would support a rebuild, but would need to be fair to our core players such as Petterson, Hughes, Demko. Would likely lead to loss of key off season signings such as Kuzemenko etc…..
We drive Teslas and love them but too expensive in Richmond/BC in general. Honda has a EV coming out 2024 (Honda Prologue) that I think you would like and would keep the Honda theme going!

Rutherford said they had a bad camp. Why was that permitted? They have no choice but to rebuild. It would be nice to see Rutherford focus more on hockey ops than woke ideology for virtue points.

I do agree with with not wasting those players prime years, but have a different take. Those contracts Benning made has nullified any chance at the Cup. Can fans just be happy at just making the playoffs? I want the cup. No team has won with a bunch of smallish players. And no defense. Sure the Canucks could have won the first five but they didn't. I don't see this team winning the Cup. Those contracts are team killers. We really have just a few assets to trade. I would gladly eat crow if they turn it around. If there is a Yoko in the dressing room address the problem. Go all in for Bedard. And we get Michkov at fifth. Because the wheel rips us off again.

After all the failure and mediocrity, I would be very happy with a rebuild and a concise plan. I don’t care if they’re bad, I just want hope that they will actually get better eventually with prospects and young players. Would be nice to be excited about a top 3 draft pick as well.

As a Oiler fan we are going through the same thing but I'm still stand behind my team win or lose, Canucks fans should try doing the same thing.
The Canuck players have no grit, heart or any desire to push themselves all they care about is their paycheck.
Do not re-sign Horvat yet, trade him sooner rather than later for a top 1st rounder or a top-4 right-handed defence.
One thing is that Aquilini needs to stop having influence on these decision making. Another is that they need to make a smart and strategic decision and not get pressured by us fans.
And it when it comes to players on the ice as a fan i can simply say, "I dont know"…

at practice it was Mik, Bo, and Miller, Hogs, Petty, and Pods, Kuz, Aman, and Garland, Pearson, Lazar, and Joshua. Meaning Boeser is sitting. Thank God its about time. They should stop putting Hughes on the PK, as he logs enough time. He shouldn't be put on the right side as he is struggling defensively.
I think not committing to a rebuild is also wasting the core's primes. What we see is what the "win now" mode Canucks look like.
As far as whether the market could stomach it, are we really making the assumption that the market is stomaching this? I think the market would embrace a rebuild. I would feel the same pride I would watching a friend quit smoking.
If we do a rebuild, we'll need to trade away Horvat and Miller. Demko is also getting up there in age which isn't ideal.

Last week on Friday TSN posted a video titled "Were we all wrong about the Habs?" By then the Habs had played 5 games, having won all 3 home ones but having lost both of their away ones, respectively by 3-0 and 3-1 margins to the Wings and Caps. The Habs lost their weekend game, another home one, to the Stars, at 5-2, but to be fair the Habs had been due for a loss at home one of these days.
So what separates the Canucks from THIS season's Habs? It's that the Canucks lost ALL their previous 5 road games and THEN their home opener. It seems that perhaps the Canucks should tank for Bedard just as last season the Habs did for Juraj Slafkovsky.
They play with no heart!! This is what happens when you make too much money!!
