Just not a good game for the sabres. 5-1, 16 shots on goal, ending a long road trip, tons of sloppy handles, passes, and shots and we go against a good Kraken team. Bit of a crash down to earth game showing how much we miss Sammy and rely on Comrie to block everything but no reason to get rid of everyone. We’ve delt with worse and gotta adjust and move on

So far my biggest concern is our PP. It has looked very very bad.

Under 20 shots on goal vs Martin Jones is unforgivable

Damn calamari had its way with us. Thought Tage in particular had a bad game, way too many passes right on the other team’s tape. I think we can probably write that one off and regroup and go on though. Hopefully. Good road trip, hope our D gets healthy quickly.
time2fly2124
one day we will travel to the great city of Seattle and win a hockey game
SomeSabresFan
Ugly one, but can’t win them all. To go 3-1 on this road trip is a solid result. Tonight it’s like every pass just couldn’t find the tape and every lucky bounce went the way of Seattle. It happens. Onto the next one
barffolemeow
Rough showing all around but nothing I hate more than a terrible overturned goal from bad work ethic. Brutal effort from Mitts tonight.
Sabres8127
Sabres looked tired tonight and couldn’t complete a pass to save their lives, but let’s remember they just went 3-1 on a 4 game road trip, and beat some very good teams.

Bad game to end a good road trip.
But can we talk about that last PP we got? Our first unit has been playing like garbage all year, a lazy change cost our second unit a goal by a young kid struggling to find his offense. Somehow you come out of a disallowed goal with a 5-3 pp and you send out the dude who just cost us the goal? Wtf is that choice by the coaches. Why do I get the feeling that on top of that were going to sit Quinn next game to get Krebs back in.
Also I miss Borgen.

I dunno not too worried. Guys have been on a west trip and they kicked ass. Had this gut feeling that they were not going to win.
Yeah they were sloppy but we have to not focus on this loss and focus on the last 3 games and just put this behind us
Takes the bad, learn from it, let it fuel us but not let it take us down.

Sabres had a bad game, but give credit to Seattle for giving them no space and no time at all to make plays.
Nevertheless, the Sabres never stopped skating and never hanged their heads, which was good to see.
If they got rid of reviewing offsides I’d be thrilled.

The dooming in the game thread was legit awful, buncha fuckin fairweathers, it was almost worse than the team, a guy saying the tage contract will suck another saying that we should trade power and peterka, many saying we should just dump mitts now after one mistake (a bad one yes but he was one of our best players tonight). I’m just incredibly disappointed In not only the team but us as well that was just an awful experience. Another thing is the coaching needs to fucking adjust when teams play that heavy forecheck style on us, it happened last year too, team play like that and they just rub our faces in the dirt, philly is going to be a team that will do that to us as well if we can’t adjust (teams will catch on to it as well)

Skinner, Tage, Power off to a rough start and those are 3 guys we really count on

The offsides challenge needs to die, or be substantially re-written. If the player offsides does not affect the play (or the team does not score off the initial rush where an offside player would lend an advantage), and it was close enough that the linesman didn’t call it originally, then it shouldn’t be reviewable. It slows the game down and is just generally a bad review.
Yes, it was the right call. And they did it faster than many offsides reviews. But honestly, the Sabres player existing the zone had no impact on the play. Shitty to call a goal back for a 3 inch technicality. That challenge drives me nuts.
half_breed_duck
They did the exact same thing last year. Was a pretty good road trip (for what the team was), then Seattle. And they blew us up. No one has a good game. Pairings never looked comfortable with one another, Tage’s line, Cozens line, Okposo like were invisible. Mittlestadt’s line was visible for all the wrong reasons.
Is there great night life there or something? Maybe horrible rain that drags everyone down? Mix it with Seattle’s pressure, and that was pretty awful.
Yuck.
jtww
Donny you can keep putting out the same Powerplay all you want it’s not going to change anything. It’s bad bad.
Also, why does Mitts get allowed back on the PP when he’s the lazy idiot that took Quinn’s goal away? I can’t wait until we are just good where I don’t have to be force fed players so we can see what we got. Good players are just good man.
Sgt-Pumpernickel
Wish they had more time to regroup before next game. Like Marty said, it’s just one game. If the same loss happens next game then things can come into question. 3-1 on that trip is no sweat, plus Comrie still looked good all things considered. Montreal is beatable so let’s get it
chakes00
Bad passing all game. Some poor mistakes on defense particularly from Pilut and Power. But what bugged me was a lack of hustle. And not just on Mitts negating a goal. It kills me to see a puck that Tuch or Tommer can absolutely win the battle to by speed alone, but it looks like they’re thinking “should I put in that extra speed?” and while they’re deciding, someone else gets there first. I guess traveling is exhausting. Hope they can get back on it at home.
incaseshesees
alright, who’s rookie initiation was last night?

Mittelstadt is terrible. The effort is usually never there. Just lazy all over the ice.
ziggywatson
All I know is that they need a few of us in that locker room to set these boys straight
Barmacist
Seattle just played better, very physical, blocked our pass lanes. Sabres just looked sloppy and overwhelmed. Oh well. Plenty of more games.
