Neil, what was throwing you off is that the arena is shared with NC State University. The arena is used for the Hurricanes and the NC State men and women’s basketball team. That being also why there is a large football stadium right next to it.
I believe the Hurricanes play on the campus of North Carolina State university. This is one of the top 3 in-terms on images found in this series so far. You are getting better at landing!

Neil, PNC Arena houses the North Carolina State University (NCSU for short) basketball team and the Carolina Hurricanes. The football stadium across the parking lot is the NCSU football stadium, the stadium the Stadium Series game is going to be played in. Your first close up of the arena is actually the entrance I go into from walking up to the stadium from where I park.

I love how PNC is far from downtown because even though there's not much to do around the stadium it let's people tailgate all day if they want and makes traffic tolerable. I've also had a lot of friends say there's a lot of trees in the area and it's really nice in the fall
So spoiler for you, but the stadium there is the NC State Football Stadium (Carter-Finley Stadium). It's the location of Carolina's outdoor game next year, as you can see, shares the same parking lot with the arena so the team doesn't really have to go far to play their outdoor game.
The football stadium is Carter Finley stadium. NC state owns it and their mens basketball team share PNC Arena with the Canes. Carter Finley stadium is also hosting the outdoor stadium series next year.
That smaller arena you saw was Dorton Arena. It used to be home of the Raleigh Icecaps an ECHL that dissolved once the canes moved in. Gordie Howe played a season for them.
