I feel bad for it, but part of me laughs at Keith Yandle who worked on being iron man for ten plus years and especially struggled the last couple of years to get the title (when he really should have been scratched long before then) only to lose it 6 months later to a guy who actually deserves it.

HBK man. The relief of the goal Phil the Thrill scored against the Sens off the rebound doesn’t get talked about enough. Pens legend

Congrats for sure…. Still didn’t like how he played injured in the playoffs for us and was a huge liability.
Ah well.

I’m really happy for Phil the Thrill. He’s such a likeable guy.

People hate on him too much for his decline / lack of physicality. He was a great player here and awesome personality to have. That HBK line was disgustingly good in its time. I’m impressed that he was able to achieve this during the COVID era where he could have easily missed from some fluke encounter.

I think the most surprising part of him being the iron man is that he played for the pens for a while and didn’t get injured.

Is Phil Kessel going to the hall?

Phil is the man, loved the wicked wrister with full flex on his stick at full speed. Also the tape on his stick is just too classic, I feel a lot of kids had that at one point. Congrats to the hotdog hero!

>In 2016 during the Eastern Conference finals, NBC Sports announcer Pierre McGuire had a postgame interview in which he asked Kessel « how’s your breath? » McGuire meant to inquire about Kessel’s conditioning after the forward played over 19 minutes against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Instead, Kessel thought it was a question about his hygiene and responded « it’s not good, eh? »
I remember watching that live, one of the most funny live interviews ever.
