Tank on my dead body, the owner says!
Start a rebuild, 3-4yrs from now u should only have Hughes, Petterson & Demko left on ur team with all accumulated draft picks and the trades u made to unload ur valuble players to fill the rest with a 1,2 free agents also
I was stunned to hear John Shannon on Donnie and Dhali today say NO to a rebuild. Think of how things would have looked if Gillis was given the green light to rebuild back in 2013. He could have sold high on a few key players, traded them for some first and second round picks or some decent prospects. That's how good teams do it. Look at the Bruins for one. They were able to remain competitive since their 2011 cup. As for Canucks……………
I have this very vague memory or something I heard on the late night radio before the Canucks were even a thing. I think it might have been Jim Taylor or some other sports guy of the time who said that "Canucks" is probably the stupidest name he'd ever heard and they'd never win anything with a ridiculous name like that. Well, they've ALMOST won the cup in 50 some years, while expansion teams after them have Stanley Cup banners hanging from their rafters, a few of them with dynasties behind them.
The Vancouver Canucks have a problem with the team !! But it is not the coach or players. it's the organization staff .They are picking the players and collectively making decisions in the head office . Get rid of the office first !!! Then retool some players from the back end first. The organization should be ashamed of themselves !!!!!!!
I was calling for a rebuild, but we can't. Or shouldn't. Those contracts will still get us. It will keep us from contending for the cup or a rebuild. We have to suck for a while. Mess with those contracts and we could be paying for up to 12- 13 years. I think we can only retool. In doing so we could stay at the bottom. OEL, Miller, Meyers. We are stuck with these guys. Bad decisions. I even thought the Ferland deal was bad. He was damaged goods before we got him. Bad gamble.
i've been howling for a real tear-down rebuild for 7 years when all the quality pieces around the sedins left. that was the perfect time to do it. right around where chicago is right now. but noooo. francesco wanted to have a playoff game revenue stream that would last for 2 games. corporate greed. full stop. if this goes on till the end of november, maybe they move out horvat, boeser, meyers, garland. draft picks, young prospects, whatever. gut job. make sure we're in the top 3 draft lottery sweepstakes for the 2023 draft.
