  1. Refs were absolute garbage today.
Good thing Oilers have 2 Legends in 97 and 29 that down right refused to be ROBBED of this Win… Leon and Connor were Clutch all night.

  2. If it's any solace about Campbell, the other two big UFA goalies from this past summer, Kuemper and Fluery, have also been about as bad or worse thus far. But I do think Campbell can get it together. Just has to tighten up those rebounds.

  3. My issue with Campbell and the reason I was so confused when people were so happy to see him signed was his failure to win a single playoff series.

He is starting to seem like a goalie where you'll need to score 4+ goals to get a win while he's in net. Unrealistic, and concerning.

And let's be honest, Schwartz won't make him any better.

  4. Campbell seems to have trouble with the shots taken from the top of the circle stick side!…

  5. We now have five players in the top fifty for points!…four are in the top twenty five with Leon and Connor at the top!

  6. Yet another screw job effort by the refs, but you know, those silly Oiler fans just complain about the refs all the time. It happens to any other team, and it's front page news, and omg we need to change the game because of this!

  7. I think at one point it was 10 PP chances for CHI to only 3 PP for EDM… then refs probably thought people will start feeling refs were rigging the game and finally started calling penalties on the hawks.

  8. Some of the worst officiating I've seen. How that wasn't a goal, I won't understand. For Kane to be in on the game winner and us to win in regulation is SO sweet!

  9. David. I think you slightly underate Sergei Zubov. I viewed him as the 4th best defenseman of his "era" behind Lidstom, Neidermayer, and Pronger.
If Bouchard becomes that good, we are in for a treat

  10. An observation and question about the game.On the Athanasiou breakaway goal, Athanasiou used his stick to push Campbell’s pad into the net. The puck was on the goal line under Campbell’s pad . Would that be grounds for a no-goal or goalie interference call? Could it have been reviewed? Of course it happened quickly but could the Oilers have challenged it?

  11. Was there no reason to reconsider Chicago's first goal due to Athanasiou pushing Campbell's pad over the line? It wasn't the most aggressive shove, but I think it was a save until he did that.

  12. Jack Campbell is sort of catlike (I know he likes cats) in the way he jumps after the puck, and often finds himself badly out of position for rebounds. Stewart Skinner is more like an iron Buddha.

  13. This is what it will take to bring a cup back to Canada. Going back to the “offside” call against Colorado, it will take a special team to beat the other 32 teams plus the video review room. Bettman might’ve made everyone a lot of money but hockey is as real as wrestling these days.

  14. Kane was robbed and I agree poetic justice indeed wish kane scored but he was part of winning goal so good 👍

  15. There has only been two players I have hated and that was Sean Avery and Matthew Tkachuk and it has everything to do with their unsportsmanlike conduct. Never even hated Hatcher. Was pretty close to Hating Bryan Marchment but we traded him away so no longer had to watch his dirty plays and attempts to intentionally injury guys on a night to night basis. I was ashamed to have that guy wear our jersey.

  16. why are you guys so afraid to criticize the oiler defence? Campbell was left to try and push opposing players out of his way far too many times

  17. Mcdavid had 3 x 4point games all of last season…… he has 3 x 4 point games thru the first 8 games of this season. He had 1 hat trick last year and 2 so far this year… and yet thru 8 games last year he had 17 points….. this year 15.

  18. To have 17 penalties called in a game that wasn't “chippy” is insane. We don't watch hockey for the reffing. Those guys aren't the stars of the league. The Kane goal was very confusing. It was called a goal by the ref that was 5’ from the net. But in during the review they said it was waived off??? One of the worse reffed games I've ever seen.

  19. I've really been noticing nurse’s skating lately. Man, can he get around? They sure missed that in the playoffs when he was injured.

  20. My observations on the reffing: 1.) I don't even care that so many penalties are called, it was a rough game and they were trying to keep it in control. The problem was that so many penalties came off of the Oilers retaliating, they were letting the Blackhawks players chop and slash in front of the net with reckless abandon but as soon as the Oilers player took exception we got called.. 2.) You literally have a replay of the Kane goal, I understand missing a call in real time… but you can literally watch it 10 times. The NHL needs to release statements following these kinds of calls justifying how they arrived at the call.

  21. I have a bad feeling that Campbell is going to be a very expensive backup. Hoping that isn't the case.

  22. Hopefully Campbell isn't our new Koskinen! Last nights game should become a learning tool at Referee School, and the NHL needs to put name bars back on officials instead of allowing them a degree of anonymity in which to flounder.

  23. Kane was definitely robbed on the goal but he has to have some self control. He was yelling at the refs before the TV commercial, more than likely all the way through the commercial, when they came back from commercial and clearly still while the play was going on. They gave him tons of leeway.

  24. When Skinner is playing he has a calm, and confident demeanour, he also swallows pucks really well.
