  1. kraken management don't want shane sent down, the coach doesn't want to play him very much. tough spot for shane.

  2. Terrible development by the Kraken. Its not like the Kraken are going to be battling for a playoff spot. They stand to lose a lot more by not playing him than by playing him.

  3. Its hard to say without knowing the back door conversations the Kraken has with Wright… but from an external perspective.. it looks pretty bad and i feel for Shane.

  4. If the Kraken think so low about Wright why not trade him to Detroit for Zadina and a few picks, hint hint nudge nudge lol

  5. Shame on the Kraken. If you aren't going to play the kid, then send him down to get play time. Knowing he has family in town and not giving him a game is just shameful.

  6. I feel bad for him, but as a Habs fan I'm glad we drafted Slafkovsky over him.

  7. Trotz did the same thing with Dobson. Really screwed up his development imo. If he’s not gonna be played, send him down.

  8. Honestly given where the Kraken are and their lack of a culture etc, it would make most sense to just play him and let him learn on the job how to be a top 6 player in the NHL. Obviously shelter him a but during games but let the kid play. No one can argue they are too deep or have too many playoff/contending aspirations to play Wright. The extra year means less if he doesnt develop or ends up wanting out at the end of it.

  9. Wright has to proove to the Kraken coach he is making the wrong decision? BUT maybe he has to reasise some things abot what he might be doing wrong?

  10. You have to earn your opportunities. You can't just have them handed to you. One of the reasons Shane Wright even made it to an NHL roster right after his draft year was because he was drafted by Seattle. Now, he's been okay at the NHL level and I'm not saying he's been terrible, but you have to earn your spot. Certainly, management should probably send him down, but after that great run by Vegas in their first year, the standards set now for an expansion team in their first few seasons are very high and I'm sure for PR reasons, management wants to at least have someone on the roster that the fans really want to see. The problem is that the coach doesn't think he's ready and he's not just going to give Shane Wright a top 6 role if he doesn't think the kid is ready. He's already suspected of having attitude issues, which may have played a role in him falling in the draft to begin with. Will it mess up his development? Maybe. I would have given him at least a year in the minors before giving him a full time NHL job, but I see the argument from both sides and it makes for a difficult situation for Seattle.

  11. Seattle needs to figure out what they want to do with Shane, and they need to figure it out soon. If they’re not going to play him, send him to Kingston so he can play. If they do intend to play him, give him some ice time for God’s sake! But scratching him and restricting him to only practice is not going to do anything but stunt his growth.
