It’s the crazy thing about Ovi, and what makes him so good. He has done this his whole career. Everyone on every team knows it’s coming. He still keeps doing it anyway.
Sure, he doesn’t skate as fast as he used to. That shot is absurd and every player on the ice has to respect him every time he is out there. It makes people think, and it makes space for his teammates.

Is there any doubt that Ovi has the best shot of all time? Sure, others were more powerful but not as accurate. You could argue that Brett Hull's one-timer was very comparable but it didn't stay great for as long as Ovi.

He positions himself to the best advantage and takes the best shot that has a chance of getting past the goalie. Sometimes he gets lucky. This was one of those times. There are no guarantees. But he is great because of those choices he makes.
