I’m okay with the Sharks letting Dahlen search the open market. I think he benefited early on with some top line minutes but he couldn’t endure a full season and he just doesn’t have high end skill in any particular area. He doesn’t create enough scoring opportunities in the top 6. And if we’re talking about garbage goals and scoring in high traffic areas, I think Scott Reedy took over that role towards the end of the season. Dahlen couldn’t take it from him. Good player, but I’d rather see spots open up for guys like Eklund, Wiesblatt, Raska, Coe, Gushchin, Robbins, etc…
Personally, in my humble opinion. We are most likely going to not do great for a few years, and that's OKAY, as long as we don't suck in vain. IMO we should play the long game at this point and farm some players, make it a point for the barracuda to get good and maybe open up another farm, I suggest Stockton CA, the Stockton Heat is on its way back to Calgary and leaving behind a good structure with fans that filled atleast 3000 seats pre covid and is 1hr away from San jose. But I mean that damn near fan fiction because the Sharks are on the fence broke 💔, maybe I'm just a salty hockey fan from Stockton and want a home team, you caught me 😭
Times are tough for Los Tiburones, but it won't be as bad as season 1 was

I think from your math, it looks like Dahlen is just the odd man out due to cap space and they preferred Kunin over Dahlen. But also if the roster stays the same, it's going to be pick #11-ish in 2023 in the next year's good draft and all the same convos about trading Timo at the trade deadline 🙂 and then getting not-the-best-blue-chip talent at the draft 🙂
Not qualifying Dahlen is bad asset management, he at least could be a sweetener to offload a contract. He still has top 6 potential while Kunin is more expensive and worse potential. I get that they play different styles but I hate these moves. Very unimpressed so far.
We signed Max Veronneau, the Swedish Hockey League player of the year this season. He's going to get some NHL ice for us this year. As far as Labanc: I'd like to see him 20-20-40 by the TDL and get us a pick or 2. Hey, he's a playoff hero…4 points in 4 minutes. Who wouldn't give up a 1st for that resume going into the playoffs?😃
They may want to resign Dahlen, just not pay him his QO
