*Kyle Dubas has been the best drafter in the NHL since he became GM in 2018. There is noise around this number, but we can still be confident in the draft process of the Dubas-era Leafs*

You know the method is good when it tries to claim the Hunter Leafs were the 2nd best drafters.

I think most people recognize that it’s well established that Dubas has been great at the draft table. Sadly, two of his better successes were traded away (Durzi and Grundstrom), so we didn’t get to enjoy the fruits of those particular picks. It looks like Knies will be a big get, and he’s obviously hit with Sandin. We may have a player with SDA, Robertson is a player for sure. The 2020 draft looks like a potential home-run with Amirov (who we’re all rooting for), Hirvonen, and Niemela. And we also have Minten looking really good from the 2021 draft.

meh, it’s too early to really judge. none of his picks so far look like studs. the best ones (Sandin, Robertson) may end up top 6 forward/top 4 d, but it’s unlikely either become 1st line/pairing
it’d be nice if we got a Point or DeBrincat one day. even the Sens have Batherson. where’s our 4th round PPG centres?

From all the drafts since 2018, we have one NHL regular on the roster and Durzi in LA. I know draft picks take a while to develop but this doesn’t seem like much to go on to declare Dubas the greatest GM at drafting. Something has gotta be fucked with how this analysis was done. Almost as if they started with a hypothesis and worked backwards.
