He is definitely play too much but this does fall under the shoulder of management as it shows that this team is in dire need of a top 4 defenseman. This team doesn't have many options out there so that's why DJ would play him over 25 mins was he was our only good defenseman for the past 3 years. Another issue is he has played for the most part with Zaitsev who has been just awful on the ice.
Ideally he plays around 23-24 mins a night rather than 26-27 mins a night. I know the team has Jake Sanderson and he has looked good to start this season but he is a rookie and I would not want to rush him into that big of a role just yet.
