Konecky seriously thinking he’s going to get a 60 goal scorer to fight him in a 5-2 game. Good christ.
I understand the logic. I understand all the arguments in the replies I’ll get.
But I hate that smirk from Matthews. Just once I wish he’d fight. Stand up for himself.

Bunting really needs to go full goon and just start two handing every player who goes after Matthew’s. If he was the most dangerous person on the ice it would go a long way
It’s about time we saw some of this from the team. The unspoken rule is… Someone goes after your guy and you’re on the ice, you do what Gio did (not the fight, just the tackle). Doesn’t matter who you are or what your skillset/role is, you stand up for your linemates.

I’m glad matthews has never fought solely because it feels like if he does even once, he’s opening Pandora’s box and teams will start targeting him harder and trying to bait him because he’s at least given a glimpse of hope that he can be pulled into a fight.

I love the Facebook comments about this calling matthews a pussy. He didn’t even back down. He’s a superstar he doesn’t fight during a 5-2 beginning of the season game. Neither does any of the superstars of the league.
Correction – they went after Matthews, Bunting went *fake tough guy* pretending like he was going to stick up for Matthews and did nothing, and Giordano had to step in.
Bunting’s shit has gotten old. He did this repeatedly in the playoffs last year too. There’s no room for that faux toughness crap in today’s NHL. He’s a coward who did nothing, until he could sucker Konecny from behind.
