Cizikas penalty was a tough one. He would have cleared the goalie, and the crease, by a foot. Staylock moved well out of the crease and into the path of Cizikas at the last second, making contact inevitable.

As our legal system works, you are innocent until proven guilty. However the fact that the Sens have been quiet and no contract has been negotiated between them and Formenton is not good. Then again the Sens are pretty well off with forwards (other than a need for a 1A or 1B center); can Formenton play defense?

Fire the coach and trade Murray when he comes back so they can free up some cap space to get a real #1 2 way D man and that in turn will take some pressure off Nylander who has played well but will play even better if he is the #2 guy.And then at the deadline pick up the best rental D man they can get squeezed into their end of season

No matter what the Leafs do, they there is no easy solution to paying half your cap to 4 forwards. They are not going to win a cup with this formula. They will be top 10, I expect they will win a series, win two if they get a favorable trade but 100% no cup.
Hope Montreal trades for Formenton. Formenton plus Ziatsev plus a 2024 second to Montreal. Montreal should also trade Monahan back to Calgary for their 2025 first with 50% retention.

Too early to panic for the Leafs. Relatively minor trade(s) likely, similar to what the Canucks have done. Can see Holl being moved, once Liljgren is fit to return to action. What to do with Kerfoot? He fills a defensive role on the line with JT and Nylander, so not sure why his name always comes up. Guess it's because Jarnkrok is signed long term, and is also a swiss army knife type player, though so far I'm not impressed with his play. I see Engvall the same way I see Holl ie. "Why is he still in Toronto?"
