  1. Yes, I’d like to see Skinner more. I believe he will get the start against NJ Thursday. If successful, give him the next start as well.

  2. They aren't going to make Skinner the starter until Campbell starts losing games. There is a difference between Koskinen and Campbell, as they just needed to wait out Koskinens contract. You don't want to have a backup making 5 mil for the next 5 years.

  3. Few things: #1: Jack Campbell has won 5 games for us (out of the 7 we've won total). Yes the Oilers outscored the goals he let in BUT he's new to the city, coach, players, systems, etc. and it takes time.
#2:: Jack Campbell needs to play games. How can he get it together if he doesn't. You don't want a goalie going "cold".
#3: Having said all of that yes, I think Stu should be played more as he's the hot goalie. Hopefully when he cools (and ALL goalies do eventually) Campbell will have heated up.
#4: I can hardly believe I'm saying this but GAA and Save % are just numbers. The most important # is under the W column.

Just an aside. Campbell is TIED for 3rd best IN THE LEAGUE for Wins with folks like Mark-Andre Fleury, Ottinger, Carter Hart (and there's a surprise), and Logan Thompson. Oh, yeah, Flower has an .894 Save % (compared to .881 for Campbell) and a 3.33 GAA (compared to Campbell's 3.90). Everyone wanted Flower to be signed during the summer yet Campbell is TIED. Remember that.

Great vid as always. Take care all.

  4. Holland wasted 5 million when he could of use it on d men and sign sam from the caps

  5. I agree 👍 he should our starter, he's got a better safe percentage. At least he doesn't let 3or 4 goals from the start.

  6. Really? 10/10 times Oilers fans call for Skinner over Campbell?
Not taking anything away from Skinner and his numbers, but he has only played 4 games and won 2 having faced a standard 30 shots per game, so I don't think his numbers are better than Campbell, even if right now his SV% is .950

  7. Let him get a streak! Play the hot glove. I feel like if skinner placed in every other game and he can go well, imagine when he gets a rhythm!

  8. You are correct. I am not 100% on the timeliness. I have always thought Campbell 50-30 split this year. Even split next year and skinner as the lead the year after whether that's 50-30 or more games for skinner. Now skinner may decide he's ready for that even split this year but we needed someone to take the pressure off skinner as the starter and jack was definitely the best option. A little expensive for the next two years maybe but we needed someone who was going to win more than they lose. In year 3,4 and 5 if he's still on our team I think with salary caps rising his salary won't be that bad for a solid back up.

  9. Campbell and Skinner? Here is what I see Goals scored (and shots on net) by the Oilers when

    Campbell: 4(25) – 5(33) – 0(23) – 6(47) – 6(38) – 6(37)

    Skinner: 2(48) – 2(28) – 3(26)

I would argue that the Oilers trust Campbell more so they attack more while he is the goalie.

There are more goals scored with more shots on goal compare with Skinner. This means the Oilers are "protecting" Skinner more by playing defense in front of him.
