    I'm going to be the Jackets fan with a slightly controversial opinion.
    If they go back to the old divisions and have the Metro Division? Definitely going to do better than last year. I'm going to be blunt. Metro is an easier division than the 20-21 Central division.
    If they're stuck in the Central division again? I expect about the same as last season. Central division was a hellaciously tough division. If you were stuck playing the same seven other teams and had a metric fuck ton of games against the likes of Tampa, Florida, and Carolina? Yeah you'd be dead in the water too.

    The Blue Jackets season fell apart when they did not have anyone who could carry the puck up the ice and no one who could distribute the puck in the offensive zone. The year before those duties were handled by Alexander Wennberg (bought out) Pierre Luc DuBois (traded, although they didn't want to move him) and Gus Nyquist (missed entire surgery due to labrum surgery). As a result, the club was plagued by numerous neutral zone turnovers, which led to oodles of odd man rushes and the goalies were under siege. Also the profound decline of David Savard was a huge problem. Don't say Savard was trying to get himself traded as Tampa Bay had similar issues with him. He started out with Hedman on the top defensive pairing and within a few games he was on the 3rd pairing and stayed there.

    The Jackets think they have solved the problem of carrying and distributing the puck with the return of Nyquist and the additions of Voracek, Bean and Boqvist. We shall see how that turns out. The other big problem was the lack of a legitimate center. That problem has yet to ne addressed. It may be a problem they can't address this year, They may have to wait until next year's draft and free agent class to resolve their issues at center. While the Jackets aren't a great team, they're not awful either. Barring a rash of injuries a point total of 75 to 78 might be the best case scenario, which would leave them well out of the playoffs. That might not be a bad thing. As of now, they have two first round picks in the 2022 draft (Their own and Chicago's). They desperately need to win the lottery. As of now, Arizona's tank job might make that nearly impossible

    My team looks really good on paper, but the biggest question is, can they can get consistency in the net?, and is Brad Larsen ready to be a head coach?

    I was so excited for last year and then it all went to crap. I'm just gonna expect middle of the road rebuilding team this year.

    I feel like a lot of people are writing them off and predicting an eighth place finish in the metro just because of one bad season.

    Really enjoy this channel. Im a CBJ fan, and the way things are, I'd say that this team should improve from last year. I wouldn't say that everyone wants to leave Columbus other than Z. Bjorkstrand, Jenner have signed long term deals. I could see Laine not being here long term, but I dont think he's said anything definitively that he wants to leave. I could see them sneaking into the postseason in their best case scenario, if the defense improves and they get more from Laine and Voracek. A wide range of things could happen, but most likely they miss the postseason. While 8th place could happen, I'm not so sure if the Devils are that much better right now.
