As of now, it has gone nice for all 3 sides
Rare but true
When the Sabres defense is healthy, those odd man rushes should occur far less frequently. Missing 3 key guys right now on the backend. Fun hockey to watch though with a ton of young talent. Buffalo just wasn't a good fit for Eichel and a lot of that had to do with the coaching staff and the roster around him. I do think he lacked leadership at times and both his play and post game interviews often left much to be desired. I wouldn't call him lazy but he never seemed to play with fire or with an edge and despite the point totals, there were plenty of games were he disappeared or didn't stand up for teammates or loafed it back to the bench. I don't think he'll ever admit it but but playing 2nd fiddle to McDavid, arguably the best player in the league was just a tough road to travel from the start. Life is weird and hockey is no different, sometimes it all works out in the end even if the pathway there isn't what was planned or expected.
As a Sabres fan, I have one thing to say. I don't like Eichel, I never have. His attitude is awful. He thinks he is the best player ever or something, and that's super annoying. I think watching those interviews from his return to buffalo is what made vegas become my most hated team
Eichel can say whatever he wants but the comments he made about the fans during his postgame interview after coming back to Buffalo showed his true colors… fans will never forget or forgive him for what he said. Glad he's off to a good start to this season and playing well in Vegas but Sabres fans will take Alex Tuch over Eichel any day of the week. As for the trade itself, it looks like a win win for both teams.
Vegas got their #1 center
Buffalo got talented players who want to be there.
As a sabres fan I wish him the best but I'm excited for our new team. And when he comes to Buffalo I want to Sabres to Crush Vegas!
Cry baby
Eichel is full of crap!!! I just hopes he plays good enough until I can unload some young guns I have.
It’s working out for both teams. Eichel’s a scorer and Tuch/Krebs brought a lot of positivity to the building Sabres.
All we want as Sabres fans is a winning team to be proud of. The problems and failures they had as an organization definitely pre-dated Eichel, and lasted for at least the last decade. I really think any kind of vitriol Sabres fans throw at Eichel is really the result of that frustration: watching the team we live and die by degrade into one of the worst teams in NHL history. WITH THAT SAID, I was ready and willing to let him go, wish him the best, and move on. I had no interest in giving him any grief if he criticized the organization, the leadership, the way things were ran, and so on. But the line for me was coming after the city and the fans, and he crossed it back in March. In the only interview without any kind of pre-briefing from anyone, he made it crystal clear he hates us. The Sabres have been doing amazing lately, and I’ve been loving it. But I do see him as a rival, and no media damage control he does can change that.
7 and 3 now alex tuch pops the game winner over the pens
i was really hoping this would fail but it looks good right now. they are looking like their 1st year in the league.
I wish Eichel the best, but he became a locker room cancer in Buffalo.
In 18-19 the Sabres had a great record through November. They started 17-7-3. They had a 10 game win streak. They had the best record in the league at that point. Then they just stopped winning.
Buffalo fans will never forget his post game comments back in March.
After hearing about what a jerk Jack was to people around Buffalo and especially this story I heard from a podcast I like about him rolling his eyes at a bunch little kids cheering for him, I couldnt like him nor do I wish him any kind of success in the future. You have to be a pretty garbage person to be mean to your fans that support you so I hope he doesn't accomplish anything meaningful unless he changes his attitude.
As a Sabres fan what do I have to say about Jack Eichel's thoughts? Hmmm, let me think about that for a moment…
"Huh…huh…"
Glad he's gone. Oh and by the way, it was never a question about his talent. We saw what he could do on the ice. We cheered and we cheered LOUDLY for him. But as time went on the rumblings about his attitude became louder and louder. We saw glimpses of it in interviews. Many of us, myself included, thought it was just his age and the weight of the expectations placed on him. Then last year Kyle Okposo penned an open letter to the Sabres fans, not blaming them for being skeptical about the team, but assuring them that they (the players) were going to play for each other and give their best effort. Maybe that was a shot at the guy who wasn't there, maybe it wasn't, but it was interesting to see how Jack not skating with the team, not being at practice, not being around the facilities, made a difference in how they played and how they addressed the media.
So good riddance, Jack. Hope your next trip to Buffalo ends like your last one did.
With all sincerity – fck Jack Eichel
just wait until he destroy's that locker room
