  1. Did anyone really think the Canucks were going to win this game? Sure, they won 2 and a row and one was against Pittsburgh, but Quinn was going to be rusty and we need to stop overvaluing this team or they’ll never win anything. “I have faith in them.” I hear that all the time. Well, I have faith in not buying a lottery ticket and still winning the jackpot. Let’s see who gets what they want first. I’m a fan, but I’m also a realist. I’ve followed the Canucks since 1990, and this team isn’t good enough. The late 80s tell us that even having a few high end offensive players doesn’t guarantee anything.

  2. The Devils have a “ ton of young talent”. A concept that Canucks managers cannot wrap their heads around.

  3. shows you what a rebuild can accomplish. canucks will continue to wallow in the middle of the pack for the next several years. boudreau has to own the miserable PK. he's the guy who's putting those players on the ice.

  4. OEL ,Myers,Pearson,Garland and Podkolzin are useless, get rid of them.

  5. Worst PK in the history of the league for a good part of last season. Not addressed at all.

  6. Some noticed from yesterday's game a moment where Ethan Bear got the puck late in the period and was trying to push the play forward but the forwards were just coasting waiting for the period to end. Bear just kinda waived his hands wondering what in the world was going on… I think that's a tell-tale sign of the problems with this team – they don't seem to be mentally tough enough to push through adversities. This may be a generalization, but when the team had a lot of Canadians playing, that toughness and tenacity did not seem to be a problem… (going back to the days of Linden, Ronning, Momesso, Adams, Diduck, Murzyn, Babych and the like)

  7. Let's trade away a couple more draft picks and see if we can't make are team even worse. I say Trade Allvin and the Girls. Bedard or Bust.

  8. I used to get upset , now it’s different. This is the Canucks. Great game against Pittsburgh a fair game against Seattle now a stinker against Jersey. This is what to expect. Lack lustre play, followed by mistake after mistake sprinkled in with a few half hearted efforts and there you are. Where is the leadership? Mr. Horvat?

  9. The whole team – including Quinn Hughes – need to really self-examine their game as they are sucking as a team right now. They are not showing their heart or desire in individual battles, or execution for that matter, which reflects on how much they are sucking as a team right now. There doesn't appear to be a whole lot of players playing for the logo on the sweater or for the guy sitting next to them in the dressing room. I agree with your call in pulling both Miller and OEL off the penalty kill and I am surprised the team coaching hasn't addressed this already. When a team is losing like this, the coaching cannot afford to be sitting back passively on their heels. Let's go, Canucks – your loyal and passionate fans deserve a better effort than this!

  10. Devils have had a couple #1 draft picks over all ..Where Vancouver Canucks don't have that ..D man also make a difference

  11. None of this discussion is even relevant anymore.
The current Canucks' roster simply isn't fast enough or strong enough to compete against most opposing teams, especially on the back end and in between the pipes.
The longer they put off a proper rebuild, the longer the team will stay in the basement of the NHL standings.
    Next.

  12. It’s sooooo hard to be a Canucks fan. Blow it up already. Wish we had some of the players we’ve lost or could still have… the mismanagement of this team is remarkable.

  13. Sit Myers and OEL the heck down. Banish Miller from the penalty kill. Bring in Burroughs, give Rathbone a fighting chance, give us Bear, these are guys who look like they're scratching at the walls to get into the lineup, yet we are giving copious minutes to players who simply do not have the speed or awareness to mount a proper NHL defense. The younger guys sit in the press box because management thinks they have to "earn it" from this dead-eyed veteran core, dangling them a few minutes here and there to keep some hope alive for their careers, while the on-ice players get roasted night in and night out.

God help us all if they think that the return of Poolman and Dermott will suddenly save the team, like having vintage Paul Coffey and Ray Bourque appear out of thin air on the blueline.

  14. Been a canucks fan since 94. But i cant stomach this team anymore. This team has no purpose, no hope. Until a proper retool, ill show myself out.

  15. There is a problem with the core. It needs to change until it does no change whatsoever

  16. Why are people not mentioning that we have the exact same crappy defense we had last year that led to the whole management and coaching staff getting fired? It's the same thing for the season. The defense needs to be revamped

  17. What stood out to me was that The Devils looked like a team. They played patiently waiting for good chances then pouncing. The Canucks were running around, trying too hard, throwing a lot of low percentage shots towards the net.

  18. Demko has been super shaky yea his defence is horseshit but rebound control and positioning have not been his self hope he finds his game sooon NGL watching our guys play has been atrocious but we here for it lol

  19. Devils. Players get too much credit when they win. The coach gets too much blame when they don't.

  20. As a Devil fan, they are absolutely rolling. A non-fluke 7W 3L’s led by a Hart candidate as they are completely dominating possession and the share of quality chances every single night so far. This was a terrible time for a struggling canucks group to have to face them. I wouldn’t take too much out of this one single performance for Vancouver.

  21. If Demko cannot get going yet after so many games played, why not give Martin some games in so that Demko can get his head back together? The coaches should do this even though Demko is our franchise goalie. The aim is to win and you should play with your best chips at the moment. Sit OEL for a couple of games to send a message too if he can't get going neither. Rathbone is not that worst off comparatively at this moment. He can at least skate better.

  22. Jesper Bratt is not only a point producer, his defense work is superb. Works hard over 200 feet. His skating, passing and play making is a joy to watch. Drafted 162nd and at 24 years old he looks like he should have been top ten draft.

  23. If Jack Rathbone is so good, it would be obvious. Only in Vancouver does the media put so much emphasis on a borderline NHL’er who can’t even earn regular ice time on a last place team.

  24. We need a reset, unfortunately. It doesn't matter how much talent you have, (and we have a lot up front), if you don't have the right mix, it doesn't work. Everyone except Pettersson, Hughes, Demko, and younger guys like Podkolzin, Hoglander, Rathbone can go. In regard to guys like Pearson and OEL, don't be scared about losing trades. Value in moving those guys is the roster and cap space.

  25. Nothing is going to change until this owner sells the team. Period.
