NJ outplay the Oilers 1st and 3rd period. The oilers got beaten by a better team. Skinner played well but he did let in some soft goals tonight. Nemo was caught sleeping on the game-winning goal, a rookie mistake.
That final period was very tough to watch, definitely a letdown after that emotional ceremony prior to the game, hopefully they can try and get it together for Saturday afternoon especially against a Dallas team that likely won’t have Jake Oettinger between the pipes.

Allowed the youngest team in the NHL to outshoot them on home ice in the 3rd period, come back from a 3-1 deficit and beat them, 2 of the goals coming within 7 seconds of each other. … What do you need to be a cup contender? CONSISTENCY.
Slow to all the pucks and couldn't put passes together. Virtually no extended pressure in Jersey's end. Was amazed they had lead in 3rd. Hope this was a good slap in their faces as they deserved it.
I think this loss will remind this team that success will not be handed to them. Defence still an issue along with lack of a 60 minute full effort to the level they can play. Great that Ryan Smith and Lee Fogolin got recognized. Both Oiler greats. Was fortunate enough to have a coffee with Lee in the early 80’s. Very nice man. Keep the vids rolling. Dallas at 3am a little early for me .😅
40+ shots again. This team isn't going anywhere till they decide to start playing team defence. Yamamoto isn't cutting it. Trade him and a quality farm hand and get a top 6 two way player. I'm losing patience with JP as well.

They need to really upgrade on D. Nurse and Ceci can't always carry the load. Everybody else needs to step up.

Lindy Ruff is a great coach and has the Devils firing on all cylinders. It's NOT a bad loss.
They had this one in the bag.. it was painful to watch 😬 but like you said, New Jersey was the better team tonight.
