  2. Fascinating look at the formation of the Sabres. I loved the team in their early years, they played a wonderful style of hockey, led by the French Connection line of Perreault, Martin and Robert. They should have beaten the Flyers in 1975,such a marvelous group of players. Sad to see them have such a rough time now, hopefully Eichel and the other new players can re-invigorate the franchise. Best wishes to everyone in Buffalo and Sabres fans worldwide. All the best!!

  3. Playing cards and reading on the plane….today it would be all about their iphones…

  4. I was there when Floyd Smith lost the ceremonial dropping of the puck with Jean Beliveau before the first game…….it pissed me off we lost it…..

  5. Perreault was a great pick obviously- after that, Butch Deadmarsh and Randy Wyrozub, yikes!

  6. I saw this at School 80 in Buffalo one night in 1971. (yes at night). I was 6 years old. It was sponsored by Erie County Savings Bank. I was an instant fan and obsessed with hockey. I went on to play myself. Wayne…. I think your great. But Bobby Orr and Gil Perreault were the best hockey players I ever saw.

  7. As a lifelong sabres fan whos been nauseated with where the team has been over the past several years, what I wouldnt give to go back in time and watch a team that actually played with effort most nights, which is more than I can say for the current group

  8. I remember that year I turned 10 and a kid in my class wore his brand new Sabre hockey jersey and it looked cool. I still like the original colour

  9. He says they're looking forward to bringing a Stanley Cup. That was 49 years ago and looks like several more years away. The Buffalo sports curse lives on.

  10. OMG! This is awesome. Much footage I never ever saw! I'm 54 years old. I was very young but my Dad was a amateur hockey player. My family, from the Bailey – Kensington neighborhood in Buffalo; Were and remain, Buffalo Sabres fans. Love Punch. I remember these days. Thank You for posting! Buffalo NY, Dec. 2019

  11. Thank you. Grew up in St Catharines. Had season tickets in 70's. Aud Club. Chef's Italian Dining. Beef on a Wick. French Connection. Seats in the top of the reds behind the net. Punch Imlach had seats 50 to the left and a few down, corner reds. His hat was his "marker". I was 5-12yrs old. Later had no problem getting scalped tickets to feed my need. GO SABRES Merry Christmas. Thanks for giving.

  12. Loved Reggie with the Rangers. Lots of good former Blueshirts on that original squad…Hamilton, Marshall, Fleming, Goyette….
