@Ducks d'Anaheim

Retour sur les Ducks d’Anaheim 2007

C’était une équipe impressionnante. Cela me fait mal de le dire, mais avec leur talent et leur profondeur, leur profondeur de niveau des années 70, ils étaient un solide champion de la Coupe. 1. I was 16 back in 2007 and In grade 10 and I remember everyone wanted Ottawa too win. So it's not just you that wants a Canadian team too win again.

  2. This was an extremely good team. They started the season 12-0-4, a record at that time. No one cared about the regular season for these guys, they know they were going to make the playoffs. The Minnesota and Vancouver series weren't that much of a challenge for them.

The Detroit series was the only time I'd say that they were pushed to the limit. They were down 2-1 after 3 games, including a 5-0 loss in Game 3 and their lone win so far of that series coming in OT of Game 2. Game 5 was the difference, no doubt about it Detroit leading 1-0 entering the final minute and then losing in OT gave Anaheim the advantage. And they dominated the first two periods of Game 6, let Detroit get close in the third period, but it wasn't enough and Anaheim got passed the heavyweight Red Wings.

The Finals were much easier, and Game 5 was a perfect ending, a blowout win on home ice to clinch the Stanley Cup. Scott Niedermayer was the only player on this team to have previously won the Stanley Cup. Seeing his brother Rob, and Chris Pronger and Teemu Selänne raise the Cup was very rewarding, even from a Detroit fan like myself.

Out of Detroit's 21 playoff series losses in their 25 season playoff streak, this was probably the least painful. I think because Anaheim and Detroit had mutual respect for each other, and just how good the teams were (the two best regular season teams from a player standpoint), you knew that the better team would come out on top, and that had to be respected.

  3. This was the first time I ever watched the cup presentation so this final will alway be a little special to me. But now I don't like the Ducks since they're a division rival of my Oilers (not to mention the playoff series they just played)

  4. This was a bittersweet playoffs for me. I hated the Ducks, but I grew up a fan of the Original Winnipeg Jets, so even though I was rooting for Ottawa, I really wanted to see Selanne finally get a cup.

  5. Hockey guy! Jim benning finally used the "R" word in his last interview…."rebuild" maybe finally the canucks are taking a step in the right direction!

  6. Only took them 21 playoff games to win it all that's impressive. What the record for least playoffs games to win it all in the 4 round format?

  7. This team is one of the greatest all time in the post cap era. They were big, mean, and full of talent . I loved the way they played , straight out in your face mean hockey .

  8. I remembered watching the finals back in 2007 and I was 11, they were my first hockey games I actually liked hockey because of the 2007 Senators. They were a great team and that's when Ottawa was truly happy for the Senators. Regards that they loss in 5, I can still tell my Toronto Friends that The Sens at least made a spot in the past 20 years.

  9. One of the toughest post-lockout teams, really glad they won the Cup. I wish more teams would appreciate toughness again rather than putting a bunch of fairies who skate fast and don't hit on the ice. Nashville almost won it last year with one of the toughest teams in the league

  10. I watched these finals in the middle of a night because I live in Finland. So glad that Anaheim&Selanne won.
As you say in the video Anaheim was never challenged. They were so good.

  11. The Ducks have had many chances since 2007 to win another but they just couldn't get the last piece to go all the way. Even though I don't blame Andersen entirely, he just didn't have the experience that Giguere had. They have something going now. Gibson and Miller got them to the playoffs this year. I think they need to pick up more speed to compete with the NHL trend and I think they'll get another one soon

  12. Game 5 broke my heart as a wings fan. Wings had that game with a minute left to go. That was a huge win for the ducks when they came back and won in OT wings, ducks, Sabres and send had great teams that year

  13. This team was stacked. It's great to know that hall of famers like Teemu and Pronger and future greats like Getzlaf and Perry got to lift the cup at least once in their career.

  14. As a hometown Sabres fan, I did NOT want Ottawa winning and wanted that Ducks team to win!

  15. I think if the Ducks played Buffalo it would've been tougher. That Buffalo team was full of talent.

  16. Brian Burke adding Pronger added a nasty attitude and a shutdown pair. just wish Kariya somehow would have gotten a ring too.

  17. That year I think, Pennywise's classic hit "Bro Hym" became the Anaheim Ducks Goal song..

  18. Late comment but boy I loved watching that ducks team. They mixed the new age of hockey and the old toughness perfectly. I can definitely understand why other teams would hate them though.

  19. Old vid but im here from the pronger chiclets podcast. I personally think this team could take on any cup winning team since. I miss the balance of brutality and skill the NHL had in the 90's-2009

  20. This was one of the finest Cup winning teams, of any era. I am not sure if I would favor heyday Oilers over the '07 Ducks.

  21. Ducks fan since 93 lol. Glad you look at things objectively. Love to hear your opinion on the 03 Ducks…….just came back to edit cuz I posted this before watching your vid on the 03 Ducks n feel like a complete ass

  22. Heartbroken in 03 but it was awesome seeing Selanne and Jiggy hoist the cup in 07. Just wish Kariya was still on the team and they used the OG uniforms.
