  1. You don't understand why a GM would want a proven NHL veteran over a young goalie?
Even after seeing what happened after Dubas waived McElhinney to keep Sparks? REALLY?

  2. When I saw Ned getting acquired by Steve Y for that cheap not only did I get to half mast but I assumed there had to be some underlying issues like work ethic, locker room issues or something. If it really was just Carolina not willing to pay then wow… just wow. LGRW

  3. It would've likely gone to arbitration and I assume it could've been around 3,5M(+) from there. His body of work is basically great 23 season games and okay playoffs that's a bit much. In recent memory there's been Hammond contract which is somewhat comparable (Rising goalie in the system + short miracle/good run). So I guess they wanted to give similar bridge contract what Ottawa did which I honestly think Ned should've taken as Canes contending atm with good defensive system. To really prove himself as starter in full season and get the money. Also Canes' experience with Darling probably had an effect too.

  4. Ned had played just 29 games against only 7 different teams, nowhere near the XP that any team should put faith in being enough of a long-term representative sample size….

Don Waddell is looking for a bonafide #1 VETERAN goaltender and that is not what Ned is. Ned, at this point in his career, is in prove-it mode. i would have loved him back as a backup but he's clearly asking for starter money, and the Canes are not looking for another "prove-it" kind of goaltender. this organization has spent to the cap the last 4 seasons and our GM and owner are in WIN NOW mode, we need someone legit in net like a Gibson/Grubauer/Kuemper with Bernier/Mrazek as a backup, not a Ned/Mrazek or Ned/Bernier tandem. it's really that simple

  5. Bernier played with Colorado(a year or two before) recently before Grubauer in the playoffs?
I'm pretty damn sure I remember he played much better than his stats say as I remember.

But yeah, this trade is still dumb.

  6. "The literally not even trying Red Wings"
I guarantee you didn't watch a single Wings game this year. They didn't have a consistent goal scorer and probably the slowest D-core in the league. The prospects aren't good enough to justify a spot in the lineup and and vets are just too slow. Last year the team was -122 in goal differential (atrocious). This year they were -44, bad, but significantly better. Don't call a team out for not trying just because they aren't playing 19-year-olds 20 minutes a night.

  7. another fleecing by stevie Y. step right up jim benning. we'll take horvat off your hands for a 3rd and a bag of magic beans that might make the sedins 27 again

  8. Nedeljkovic had the best GAA (1.90) and best SV% (.932) IN THE ENTIRE NHL last year.

  9. You have to remember that the Canes saw Bernier a ton last season. And Bernier outplayed the Canes goaltenders (Ned included) in every game. Now people are losing their minds because Carolina thinks that JB might be worth a prospect that the Canes had put on waivers at one point last season. Only time will tell.

  10. Leafs should hire the backup Zonnie driver from the Canes.I heard he can play defense and check guys off the puck would especially nice if they make it in the playoffs again.

  11. The idea that NHL teams make their money in the playoffs is looking more like a league myth for the fans. A bunch of teams don't get there and don't seem to care. The real money comes from season ticket sales – prepaid, before services are rendered, what business wouldn't love that – media contracts, advertising, memorabilia and alchoholic libations. None of them need to make the playoffs to make bank.

  12. Steve has no clue. Stop yelling you creep. I don't understand how people pay you to do this. Not good!

  13. Man I love nedeljkovic he is like djokovic and tesla and lucic a proud of my country 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸 zivela srbija

  14. Rumor has it Carolina's trying to trade the PNC arena for a middle school gymnasium and a 3rd round pick.

  15. Who's here after bernier signed with new jersey, Mrazek went to toronto and They have no goalies

  16. Aaaand Bernier doesn’t even end up signing with Carolina lmfao

  17. Adam is dumb as hell. Judging Bernier for never being in a position to be the guy in must win in a team game.

  18. Borderline point shaving? Wow, Steve putting his hate for the Wings on full display. So because we're smart enough to leave out kids in lower leagues to develop we are borderline cheating? Yup, I would expect that nonsense from a regular Leafs fan, but not Dangle.

  19. Hey leaf fans , do you know you are still paying Phil Kessel 1.2 million for next year. And these guys are calling Canes a Joke. Pathetic.

  20. The wild thing is that CAR traded a goalie at 3.5 for a really good young goalie, then signed a worse, older goalie for…4 million.

    MAKE IT MAKE SENSE PLEASE

  21. Bernier played in the playoffs with the ducks when Gibson went out in 2017. They lost

  22. I know this is an old story, but where the Leafs ever in discussion with the Red Wings to have a chance to get Alexander Nedeljkovic??
