I love this team and always will but nurses contract f**ked them. Not even close to that price tag and could’ve had money for a better 4th line or another piece on the back end
Losing Klefboom and Larsson the last few seasons and replacing them with Ceci and Barrie is a huge downgraded defensively. Putting in Skinner wont change the fact the D doesnt play it and the forwards cant spell back check.
I'm rooting for jack but rebounds and just keeping track of puck seems too be a issue he looks lost half the time

You are partly right, oilers don't check enough and they caught on the counter attack way too much. I've been saying for years now the goalies are not big issue, it is defense. You can't be the best offense with out having some kind of defense.
Not the greatest game for Campbell…..OR….the team!!!…..He could have had a couple today….BUT…..Watch the first goal for Dallas. Forward, by himself side of the net for a tap in.. Ask yourself how many goals you watch get scored on Edmonton have someone inexplicably left open in prime shooting location. We have seen THIS team play tight defence. (St.Louis game)…We have seen games with goal scoring and yes even good goaltending. The Oilers STILL have a winning record.
As far as Campbell? I would go back to him immediately. Seriously, I would give him at least 3 out of the next 4 on the road to get his game sorted out and confidence back. If he can't get it together on the road, at home will be even harder. If it really does continue (and the team) the the Oilers obviously have to go to Skinner and possibly call up Pickard who bt all accounts had a very good training camp.
Also, Mike Smith has not officially retired,he still has 1 more year left. Him taking off half the year is nothing unusual. (like the last 2 season's). Maybe their is one more run left in him?
I hope the Oiler's faithful don't throw in the towel on Soupy quite yet though.
That would be like being super critical of a goalie that starts the season 12–2 and finishes 26–12–4………and which fan base would do that?…….(oops, forgot about Koskinen, sorry never mind…)
It is a goalie's job to stop the puck when mistakes are made. That's the job description. The Oilers get plenty of grade A chances and opposing goalies do their job and make the save. Sadly our tandem is simply not good enough.

What I will say is that some of the goals Campbell has given up have been ridiculous like the shot from the blueline
good for you to not throw Campbell under the bus. Seems alot of teams are playing transition hockey, things can turn ugly in a hurry. Oilers need to rally and play better for Campbell. They are gonna need both goalies going for the season.
