B's MGMT made a bad choice. Bettman bailed them out. The player in question is terrible, I hope he never plays a game. But why is he not eligible (if there is an NHL statue I want to know, not being sarcastic)? I would like an actual bylaw cited please. It's disconcerting that if the commissioner disagrees with something a person does it is grounds for ineligibility. Again, this person is a bad seed, but…cite the policy violation. If you can't, he is eligible,. If you didn't like his hair is that also grounds for ineligibility? This is why we codify things. Would be nice to see due process given a shred of consideration given all that's going on right now.

Bettman is also lying because the contract already went through NHL registry and was filed so they knew. Sweeney said through the whole presser this wasn't his idea. After Cassidy was forced out against his wishes it's clear Neely and Jacobs are running the show.

Are GMs required to ask the NHL (Bettman) about acquiring each and every player? If its a rule, then Sweeney and Neely should've known it. And if it isn't, well, Gary didn't say it. And character shouldn't matter. Sorry. Thats business. Criminal matters are one thing, character is another. Just ask the NFL and NBA.
If hockey canada and it's counter part in USA would say this Miller is not allowed to play anywhere in North America would AHL and others have to ban him for life, I am asking because that's the way it works in Finland, here if you do something really stupid let's say when you are 13years old they can ban you for life from all hockey in Finland. This also works same way here in other sports.

Thankfully the "everybody makes mistakes" crowd seems to be pretty small regarding Miller. Yes, everyone does make mistakes. I've done dumb things–especially as a teenager. But never using racial slurs or humiliating special needs classmates.
The more beyond the pale your mistakes are, the more you need to do to show you've learned and changed. And to my knowledge, Miller has done as little as possible to even acknowledge what he did, much less make amends for it.

The kid did what he did SIX YEARS AGO, at 14. He paid the price imposed by society and society SHOULD be satisfied.
The kid is defenseman of the year and broke a scoring record, but he's not Dany Heatley, who killed Dan Snyder in his Ferrari while driving drunk. Snyder was white so I guess it's OK. If the NHL has time to review every 14 year olds life before they're drafted, they have time to review each potential OWNER before they buy a club. If so, half the league would have to change hands. Melnyk, Dolan and Jeremy Jacob's have hurt society, black and white, far more than Miller ever could. Some of you people won't be happy until we start executing children.

I agree with Bettman and Hockey Guy. Miller has an alternative by playing in KHL.
Hell Miller would fit right in with Boston, can be a dirty lil rat and get away with. makes sense.
Don't bully people as a kid, but advocating a war criminal and spreading propaganda to justify genocide as an adult is okay.
An amazing day when a majority of NHL fans agree with something Bettman does… though Miller hasn't done enough to move on, I don't think he ever will. What he did for a very long time to this kid is unbelievable. I don't think he deserves to ever be there.

Literally had never heard of this guy until this week. Everyone seems to have super strong opinions about the guy already. All i know is that most people can change a lot in 5 years and I've personally met people who are the nicest people you'll ever meet now but they weren't when they were younger.

I don't know about the details of what Mitch Miller did or how long ago he did it. All I know is Gary Bettman just said there are too many white people in the NHL! How can he say that, but criticize others? Real sports fans love any player that makes their team win regardless of their looks or background. Society wants to let criminals out of prison to give them a second chance. I don't see public confessions by criminals let out of prison. Lots of double standards going on here.
As a Leafs fan, I (obviously) listen to Steve Dangle and he had a thought that scares me.. If Boston signed him, it means other teams were about to try and sign him as well and someone in the ownership/management wanted to get him in their system before another team did.
So Mitchell is basically suspended for life for something he did as teenager? While many other players have had major issues as ADULTS and weren't treated this way. Patrick Kane beats up a 68yr old Taxi driver and has had rape accusations and I saw none of this outrage to ruin his career. 🤔

Why wasn't this handled behind closeds door. NHL knew about this guy the year of his draft. Should of barred all teams making him ineligible for the draft. Why didn't the NHL do that. The problem could of been solved right then and there. Just saying.

Mitch was 14 years old. Barak Obama argued for and pushed for black youth's juvenile crime records to be cleared so they would have a better chance in life. Why is this same consideration not being given to other races? As a society we have to quit jumping on top of each other or we will all go insane.
