So what exactly do you propose happens when you get a penalty?
Hockey IS meant to be played 5 on 5 and it’s bad when players don’t play within the bounds of the rules and get penalties
Y’all can’t shit on the refs for not calling shit and then piss and moan when they do.
There are rules. Follow them. If you don’t, you’re going to the box. Kthxbai.
That’s all fine and well with words, but how do you make this happen? Tell players to not be so hard on each other? Good luck with that.
The league wants more goals. More PP generally leads to more goals. It’s gonna be a tough sell man.
It also depends on why you watch hockey. The PP can produce some pretty as fuck goals. It’s exciting and tense.
It’s not so great if your team suffers on the PK, and I can tell you about suffering through historic bad PK. But from a product standpoint it is better all round.
Just get rid of officials altogether. No whistles, no faceoffs. Just play for 60 minutes straight.

How about a better ref program. Better training. And maybe letting all teams know the points of emphasis each season, then reevaluate them in the playoffs.
