Demko may be struggling most games, but the team defense is simply outclassed every single night.

  2. theblondebasterd

Has Demko let in less than 3-4 goals at any time this year? Miller had a bad play up the center resulting in a goal, Rathbone had a bad time clearing the puck resulting in a goal but every time there’s a breakdown, Demko hasn’t been able to come up big this season.

Bad teams only been slightly worse than I expected. But wow Demko is night and day from last year.

Folks, we don’t _really_ suck. We’re just slow playing the rest of the league. It’s like in poker when you get an awesome hand on the flop, but you want to keep the game going through the turn and the river to get more bets. We’re a straight flush on the flop. We’re just letting other teams think we are a ten high.

Pretty clear that Demko is having a confidence crisis. Don’t get me wrong, outside of Hughes-Schenn there’s a below AHL level defensive corps, but at a certain point you need to start giving your team a chance with some key saves.

That Miller signing is aging worse every day.

Disappointing but thought we fought back well.

I know it sucks losing but these things take time. We’re building something here, folks. Something special. Just need to be patient.

  6. chaotic_evill

No jersey or ass eating tonight boys 😔

  7. MajorMoose007

and now we get a back to back against Toronto and Boston. Lucky us

  8. THEcommandomando

If I cared more I’d look into how often we give up a 1st minute or last minute goal vs league

  9. Young2k04

On the bright side Quinn Hughes has an 8 game point streak

Maybe a new low for the season? They just didn’t look like they belonged anywhere near the NHL tonight. I want to love this team again, but they need to make very big, very difficult changes soon. This team just isn’t it.

  11. Not_KGB

Is it just me or is this the slowest they’ve ever skated? Everything is so slow and sloppy, it’s like they’re being forced to play against their will.

  12. Demko must be hurt right? Something’s going on.

  13. Rendlesham_UFO

Most of these guys don’t deserve to be in the NHL. Their complete lack of effort again tonight is not how professional hockey players conduct themselves. Nobody can tell me otherwise.

JR: “this team lacks defensive structure”

Yeah no shit, you committed nearly 20M/ season to Miller, Boeser and Mikheyev and our D remains jackshit

  15. Sinochick

This game had all the hallmarks of Canucks hockey this season:

    * Early Tanner Pearson penalty (check)

    * Powerplay goal for the other team (check)

    * OEL and Myers chasing the puck and getting beat easily on the outside (check)

    * Brutal JT Miller giveaway (check)

I know Demko hasn’t been very good but I am not ready yet to lambast him…..he must be hurt or something?

I wish Bruce had the balls to hold the veteran players who make the costly plays accountable…..limit their ice time…..or don’t play them. It’s not fair that Rathbone or Hoglander make one mistake and are benched the next game when the veterans who make just as bad mistakes get more ice time.

  16. Sprookie07

Missed the game, what pearson do ?

  17. wintercom

I’ve said it before. Give Spencer « Diamonds » Martin as chance to Jordan Binnington us to the playoffs.

  18. samuelmeirels

Does anyone know what happened to Pearson in the end?

  19. NCPokey

I think Bruce is going to be gone, but they better start making big player moves as well. I don’t think anyone should be untouchable for the right price, this team needs a shakeup in a bad way.

It’s good that we have so many front office staff cause it’s gonna take a lot of them to figure out this mess

Another lovely birthday gift from the Canucks. Was at the game and got to enjoy that wonderful performance.

  22. mtraz44

Demko just seems broken. I feel sad for the guy.

  23. scarlet911

What happens if Martin wins all his game on this road trip, and Demko loses all his game?

  24. CheesecakeMurky7800

Fuck this shit I’ll keep watching but fuck this shit

  25. Lorenzo_

Would have been an interesting game if either of those posts on the powerplay had gone in, killed all of our momentum. Makes me think that if we’d gotten on the scoreboard earlier that we would have had time to mount the comeback.

  26. Any-Representative25

Betting against the Canucks pays again!

  27. The_Kandarian

You guys act like [record if team wins the rest of their games, lol] isn’t good enough

Sorry this is easier for copy/paste

  28. Triangle_Inequality

Those 3 first period goals completely deflated the team.

1st goal – Unscreened wrist shot from above the circle. Need a save there.

2nd goal – Deflected out high by Pearson, maybe stoppable but can’t blame him too much for that.

3rd goal – Bad giveaway by Miller, but this one had no business going in. The shot was a muffin that only went in because Demko was standing straight up completely unset so he couldn’t react in time.

4th goal – Yeah that one’s on Rathbone. Great shot by Hoffman.

5th goal – Another defensive breakdown starting with Rathbone, but Demko inexplicably lunges to his right as the shot is going glove side.

Overall, I think last season’s Demko only lets 2 of the 5 in. I think he’s not 100% healthy and that’s now being compounded by a total lack of confidence.

But the boys battled back hard and at least made it a little interesting at the end. On the positive side, I thought Miller was really involved and looked better than he has most of the season. Eckman-Larsson had a strong defensive game.

Overall, I think we played better than in Ottawa but faced better goaltending while having worse goaltending on our side. The stream of penalties in the second also killed any attempt at gaining momentum.

    Oh well, on to Toronto.

Can someone start shit with the Leafs? I need them to prove themselves wrong so we can tank this Saturday.

  30. MaxHardwood

Connor Bedard has 36 points in 17 games which is a 144 point pace, on a very mediocre Regina Pats team.

I will tell myself that he’s not actually generational, if the Canucks lose the lottery. Need to cope somehow.
