No way Dubas trades Muzzin now. Sandin will sign and be 6th D on the RH side when they give away Holl for future considerations.
There is no trade for an impact RH D, they don't have the assets. I predict they move Holl or Kerfoot to get under the cap. Then they think their AHL guys will push for spots.
they could have got bobrovsky for half his contract who is way better than the 2 backups he's got for 2023, but dubas likes to load up on top 6 forwards, kill 40% of his cap space on 4 players and try to win games 7-5 with bargain basement goaltending. that philosophy catches up to him at the playoffs year after year. you better get kane cuz you're going to need him.
I think Muzzin has to go. He's a great player when he's at his best but i wasn't impressed last season. On the other hand he's still less mistake prone than Holl.
..Sabers, Wings, Sens and Habs all got better..Presidents Trophy team..no..and may struggle to make the playoffs..

With all his latest injury and concussion issues, the leafs have to get rid of Muzzin. The young guys have to be given a chance to take it to the next level.
If they plan to on keeping Holl and Muz then Sandin has to be traded for assets or other roster players.
Muzzin is going to get moved. If you get Milano, Rodrigues or Crouse I think the leafs will be good this year. I don't know if you can another quality dman back but maybe go for Sanheim. I think Nylander gets dealt at the deadline. JT could move to the yotes.
Sandin is another undersized player who will get run over in the playoffs. His skillset shows a lot of offensive upside. Reilly 2.0? Not needed.
He could be traded in a package with Kerfoot to get a younger Muzzin type d man or a second line winger for Tavares. If Muzzin is still playing poorly at the quarter mark next season then look to trade him.
Really think they should split Marner and Matthews. If Nylander doesn't work with Matthews it might be time to trade him. Much better to have 2 really good lines than one super line. Too easy to stop one line in the playoffs.
No way Muzz gets traded.. he was the best if not second best defenseman on the leafs in the playoffs this year, trade holl sign sandin and call it a day

I don’t get the “we love Sandin” thing. Why? What am I missing? He’s small. He’s slow, very slow (gets beat all the time in a one on one foot races). He has NO shot from the point. He’s not physical and gets pushed off the puck easily. He has some decent vision but nothing spectacular. So, I find myself alone but I (for one) don’t love Sandin.
Could see Kerfoot being shipped out too, he’s a 50-60 pt utility guy who plays up and down the lineup and is only owed the acquiring team $750k of actual dollars and frees up 3.5 for the leafs cap space
