I’ve felt strongly that when Torts wasn’t rehired we should’ve cleaned house with his coaching staff as well
All those guys do is try an implement the same things that Torts taught us to do (dump and chase, etc.) except worse because they’re not head coach caliber coaches.
In 2020-2021, it was clear that Jarmo was getting ready to shift the play style of the team in favor of something a little less dump and chase and more carrying the puck in, acquiring Domi, Laine, and Roslovic who wouldn’t fit good in a dump and chase system. The current team is not build around it either. So why wouldnt Jarmo want to get a coach that focuses more on doing those transitions into the zone? By hiring a coach who worked under Torts, you’re just going to be getting what we got with him

I should probably add that according to Antti Mäkinen(the host) Laine said it sort of half-jokingly like he always does and wasn’t criticizing anyone per se, but he still had a point.
