1. What do you think of the rust extension for Pittsburgh this might be my bias showing but i think its a bargain

  2. I'm definitely happy. 12 points in 20 games on the bottom pair and 2nd pp unit is solid and he doesn't really show any signs of aging as far as I can tell. Skates really well and plays smart. He'll only be a positive impact on Liligren, Sandin and Niemelä

  3. I agree completely. I can't believe there are people that want to see big changes. This team is so close and I think the Leafs should just stay the course and let these guys mature and get better together. As you say they were that close with the Lightening, and if those guys go on and win the cup, …..

  4. Dubas has always been good at signing periphery players that are in the twilight of their careers to reasonable contracts. It's the meat and potato contracts that kill the Leafs.

  5. hahaha staney cups? hahahahahahhahahahahahahaahahahahhahahahhahahhahhhahhahhhhhahhhahhhahhhhhhahhahhahhhahah

  6. I read it as resign him or fire him and I was like noooooo wayyyyy, cuz he's a good gm

  7. A slight disagreement. The Leafs have the talent and are a solid team, but they still don't have that killer instinct, that winning culture. They had the chance to finish off Tampa in Game 6 but an obvious, reckless high-stick gave Tampa life. But the real symbol of the Leaf's lack of team play came when Nylander decided to avoid competing for the puck to avoid an icing call which resulted in a Tampa goal. The coach and the other players should have been livid at Willy, but no one cared. It's all good. Let lazy players be lazy if that's their style. That's not a winning formula.
Gretzky talked about this with the Oilers and if you're interested I can relate that story.

  8. I think Dubas is making great deals. Bunting, Kampf, Giordano, Spezza are great adds for very little CAP that add depth. I think you would be happy if they traded Justin Holl. (Then you said it as I typed it🤣). Even the Mathew knives pick was a boss move. To bad the leafs did not get him.

  9. Love this deal! I agree that Micheyev and Campbell are likely gone in the off-season. I'm worried that the window is closing pretty quickly though.

  10. Hey Coach. Leaf fan here. I've been watching you a couple months now and I have to say you are among the best at breaking things down and being objective. Thanks.

  11. Still the leafs lack power forwards and the ability to elevate and close games in the playoffs…
    Goaltending is another issue..

  12. Easily would have got 2.5+ on the open market. Had above average 2nd pair analytics. Ryan Suter has worse analytics and just got 4 years at 3.65M and was 36 years old. Great value deal. Obviously not a huge difference maker, but definitely frees up money to pay more for a goalie or invest in a middle 6 forward.

  13. I also notice in game 7 Keefe finally wakes up and put Gio with Brodie and they still look very good together.

  14. When you see how Tampa is running over Florida….it shows how good Toronto really is….Gio taking a Hometown discount deal is huge for the team….let’s get over the hump now!

  15. Dubas is going to get run out of town and going to win elsewhere. I'm going to hate every minute of it.

  16. His Norris trophy presence alone will help sandin and lilijgreen develop into amazing players on the back for years to come

  17. THREE draft picks for a 38 year old over the hill defenceman….lol..lol..lol..my ribs are just too sore. Leafs got fleeced. and are stuck with him..

  18. Best part is it makes the other ufa's more likely to take a little less. Hopefully lol

  19. Yep Holl, Kerfoot, Mrazek would be a good start.
EDIT: as in send them packing 😏

  20. Does nobody know the difference between “resign” and “re-sign”? Please look it up. Embarrassing.

  21. Dubas did not play a part in this – Gio did it on his own. Let's not crown him quite yet.
