The Wings 4 regulation losses:
Devils 4-2 in the 3rd. Ended 6-2
Bruins 2-1 in the 3rd. Ended 5-1
Sabers 4-3 in the 3rd. Ended 8-3
Rangers 2-2 in the 3rd. Ended 8-2
All these losses happened in 16 days. 0 goalies were pulled. 0 timeouts called to re-group.
Man this team needs help. At best I would say they have 5 professional players on the team. The team is trash
Im calling it now. They have a way better roster and while their record so far is decent these blowouts and 3rd period implosions continue now under two different coaches and better talent. Now comes into question leadership in the locker room. I would not be surprised to see Larkin gone. Saying it now… Everyone wants to think there is no way but at some point the leadership in the locker room needs to be questioned. At this point its definitely time to start questioning it.
Probably the worst 20 minutes of hockey ever played by a Detroit team. Mo looked like he had both feet in concrete pails and was hypnotized. A solution may be LONGER and HARDER practices to boost their stamina.
I'm gonna be completely honest, we need to revamp our entire center role on our team. All of our centers are extremely lack lustering and don't provide any extra energy for our wingers. Look at any cup contending team and each center can amplify that line. The only center playing to their value is Veleno at 4C who is constantly chasing the puck, hitting. Larkin would be a 2C on any cup contender. These lines just don't ever seem motivated and it starts with the center. Kasper will be VERY refreshing when he comes, but copp/ras need to go our FO % is horrible. This team won't be making it past the first round of the playoffs anytime soon
I feel like we have a lot of players that are around the same middle of the road skill level. These blow outs might not be that bad because hopefully it will help them to figure out who the players are with the mental toughness to keep fighting when they are down and who the players are that give up. Once we’re more healthy keep the players who don’t give up on the team and trade or send down the guys who are soft because whenever we become a playoff team we don’t want to still be soft.
This knock off winged wheel podcast is terrible
We’ll probably lose a number of these games. They are not a playoff team yet. If they’re still above .500 around Xmas you can say this team is getting better.
