Very hard to watch this team look like this much of a mess right now.
You know, at least in 2019 we had a competent PowerPlay
Pros:
– no short handed goals
– the war-criminal-fanboy didn’t score
– showed some fight once the game was gone
Cons:
– everything else (pp, defense, Vasi, injuries)
That was not a fun game to be at
You know we caught a glimpse of how this team can play in those last 6 mins. I just think the fire and desire are non-existent. If we come out like that and play a full 60 like those last minutes we’d destroy every team in the league. Big sad.

With each passing game the decision to waste 3 million on cole seems more and more ridiculous. It’s not even like he was good before. I have no idea what Breezy was thinking there.

Jeez, all 5 goals against are just stupid fucking mental errors. Missed coverages and open guys in front, all of this can be fixed. I still think that the team will be fine, team just needs time to grease the wheels a bit. A heavy lack of polish, not of skill. They aren’t playing well, I know, but they will find their way out of this I’m sure of it. If we still look like shit in 30 games, I’ll start being truly worried.
I spent $500 to go to that game, not a pleasurable experience
Not being able to watch tonight’s game was actually a blessing. This team is a mess, and I’m seriously wondering if AC and Bogosian coming back will be enough to fix it.
I only have my TV on to see how Coop attempts to polish this turd. Breakaways and blown coverages galore. For the last few years I’ve told the doomsayers to go in the corner and fuck all the way off through the slow starts, but Jesus this shit’s tough to watch this year.
It feels like the team gets frustrated, proceeds to play more aggressively, and gives up big plays as a result (SO MANY BREAKAWAYS). Then proceeds to fall even further apart because they’re even more frustrated. If Darcy Keumper doesn’t make one of those early saves, it’s a totally different game.
Love these guys, but this is hard to watch.
I mean we gotta address two elephants in the room:
a) Jeff Halpern (or whoever is responsible for PP) needs to be fired or relieved of his duties as a PP coach. This is getting out of hand, for the last three years our PP success is based entirely on whether Stamkos is on a hot streak or not
b) Vasy has 90.0% SV and it drops even further to 89.1% if we don’t count the game against Carolina. However true that might be, we have to stop with «oh, our defense left him all alone» and actually recognise he has a problem. A big one. Not to be that guy, but we are paying him 9.5M$ and it is his job to carry this team on his back and we haven’t seen this in the last two regular seasons. And this year we need it, cause we have to actually fight for a playoff spot now.

When you are in the great (winning cups) but challenging (cap woes) situation they are in you better be drafting very well and getting fairly cheap young contributors. We are getting none.
