Who needs a goalie that played more then 20 games last season? Also you included Toronto’s trade chips. After watching the world Juniors, I believe that Matthew Knies is thoroughly overrated. He was invisible in every single game on a team and facing opponents where that shouldn’t be possible. Robertson is decent but he’s had quite a few injuries.

Look, I'm 42 and a life-long Blackhawks fan and I can tell you that if I were the Hawks GM – I would expect a significant return… I'm not talking the typical First Round Pick, Prospect and cap dump + some "D level" level prospect …. I would want a substantial return like (2) First Round Picks, an NHL ready prospect, a younger prospect with epic potential and a bottom 6 or #5 defebsenab – not only that but I would want future considerations if Kane resigns like another First Round Pick ….. Patrick Kane is still an elite player that knows how to win Cups and would make any team significantly better with his presence alone …
If it's Edmonton I would need Pujaarjvari ( I cant spell his name for the life of me, lol) but I would also want Evan Bouchard, Tyler Benson and 2 First Round PIcks – sure I would be willing to toss in something else but that would be my asking price…
As far as Toronto, William Nylander would have to be part of the deal +++ and 2 First Round Picks as well…
I'd be willing to eat 50% in either deal — but you have to keep in mind Kane's actual salary is something like 3 million which makes the deal even sweeter for any team interested – and the kid is a difference maker – he knows what it takes to win Cups so his experience alone is super valuable – now add in the fact he's still a superstar????
Look, when a deal does go down I can almost guarantee it's going to be a 3-way deal if not a 4-way deal and I would expect the Hawks to get a similar package as to what the Avs got for Matt Duchene – and that is not crazy to think considering Kane is 2x the player Matt Duchene is, let alone Kanes leadership skills and wining history and other intangibles…
I have no doubt Kane will be traded and as a Hawks fan it kinda sucks this is the case but at this point this is the right move, Tazer is going too – of course his return will be a lost less but still more than anyone would expect – I mean for Tazer I expect a first round pick, a nice prospect and a cap dump – but Kane's value is on a different Planet….
The real question is do these contenders want Kane now to just make their team(s) superior or do they want to wait until the trade deadline?? … Look, if I was the Hawks GM I'd be trying to move him now and up until the deadline – I'd be willing to accept any offer I feel is adequate at any point from not until the trade deadline…
And like I said – I'm a Hawks fan so I really hate to see him go but it is what it is…. I've been a Hawks fan since the mid-80's so I've seen many of my all time favorites come and go – so I understand – and who knows? perhaps Kane wants to play a leadership role in this rebuild and is willing to be traded and resign with the Hawks in the off season knowing he got the team a bunch of assets which he can help develop into star players and the Hawks can be back in the mix within 3 years… Because look, Kane is going to be playing hockey for another decade if he can stay healthy – that is a FACT…..
