Few positives to come from this game: -Islanders once again showing that they can’t count them out until the final buzzer and that they always leave it all out on the ice. -Even though they didn’t score on it the power play genuinely looks better with good passing and movement. -Sorokin being a god as usual to keep us in striking distance.
I do have to say though there was some sloppiness for the islanders throughout this game, especially towards the end of the first and beginning of the second period. Lots of blind passes that went right to Columbus, and sloppy defense and an inability to clear gave Columbus way more zone time then they should have had. Not to mention not being able to win a face off today. But once again the isles turned it on when it mattered the most.
Please for my heart tho can we just score first and maintain a lead throughout the game 😂. Why do we always have to be playing from behind.
Pulock and pelech needs to be better defensively. Sloppy lazy play. Pelech out of position on jackets first goal. Even last game, pelech beat on first goal which was the game winner for yotes. Pelech needs to throw his body around more. Bunch of spots he could have used his body but didnt. Romanov as well. Stick checking gaudrea on the side of the net. Hit him. Use ur body. Not a great game from Romanov. Isles d collectively need to be more physical. Aho got lucky a few times defensively also. Hate to say it but mayfield did well. Usually im complaining about a dumb mayfield penalty or turnover. He had a strong game. Contributed offensively. Great to see. Barzal also with turnovers. Would like to see them shoot more, make the goalie save it. Lets get some dirty rebound goals. They all count. Beau not noticeable again. What do we think hes going to be? Think we should have moved him while he still has value. If hes not scoring what else does he do? Not like hes strong defensively, doesnt take faceoffs, doesn’t hit,doesn’t kill penalties. This is why a guy like pageau is so valuable. He does all those things. And he will chip in with points. But he still has value without scoring. Beau needs to be better. Most will say the same about palmieri but at least he is scoring. Palmieri will also throw his body around. Bottom line, we goy the much needed 2 pts. These r the games we need to win.

The horn sounds so flat next to the Coliseum. It echoed in Uniondale. Once they went to Barclays it didn't sound the same.
