  1. Benning inherited big contracts to veterans players they need to go not coach problem players that Benning brought to are team we don't need like oel poolman Myers Pearson Sutter Beartchi ferland prime example mistakes and we don't have cap for the next GM what cap messed Benning created overpaid players are underperformed mostly injured or something like Sutter one good season after that nothing ferland same or poolman now Pearson

  2. One big trade is all they need.

I’m talking JT muller for an equivalent level player on defense.

  3. The Canucks clearly don’t have any problem scoring goals now. They’re really bad defensively & mainly can’t get the puck out of their zone which results in a brutal penalty kill, but I feel like they’ll get more points when Demko gets going. Super interesting team to watch because they definitely don’t feel far off from being a good team & I would question a rebuild

  4. Because their players are insanely overrated. Miller is one of the worst defensive forwards I’ve ever seen. Great offensive talent but god damn, his defence is ahl caliber. Pettersson is solid but not the massive star people think he’s going to be. Hughes is great and so is horvat, but Hughes is their only defender. OEL is a nightmare. Demko is the most overrated goalie in the league. People act like he’s vezina caliber; he’s about as consistent as binnington.

They need to do the same thing they’ve needed to do for like 5 years now, and that’s go into rebuild…

  5. You'd have to be pretty dumb to think their core is strong lol. Defense is part of a core, and theirs is possibly the worst in the league haha

  6. This just illustrates how much Thatcher Demko was covering up for last year. Bruce has them playing probably as well as they played at times last year, but because their D core isn’t strong enough and Demko is just average, it’s a nightmare. A great goalie covers for a lot. The back end isn’t good enough and with management under the illusion that the team was better than it was and unable to fix the defense, they went out and bolstered an already strong forward group, expecting Demko to be a top 3 goalie and their offense to cover for known deficiencies, and it hasn’t worked. It just hasn’t.

  7. Rutherford will be considered honest if he blasts his coach and also takes responsibility for not being able to bring this team some help on D. At the end of last season, everyone knows that is the weakest link of the team. Instead of addressing the most glaring need, Rutherford and Allvin went on to re-sign Boeser, Miller, and signed Kuzmenko and Mikhayev. None of those signings by itself was terrible per se (maybe not Miller… but that is another topic), but by using all the resources to sign forwards, the team had no cap space left to even bring in a solid 2nd pairing D-man. Stillman and Bear could not even crack the regular lineup of their previous teams. And when asked about the D, Rutherford said first he felt the D was good enough, and then said that getting a D was hard… If it was easy I guess they could have just had me come in to make trades, Jim… they paid you the big bucks to do the tough thing, and you had not been able to deliver so far. When the team crapped out like we fear it would, you threw the coach under the bus… Nothing speaks of accountability, or lack there of, more than that.

  8. Canucks have a lame duck Captain because ownership and Jim Benning thought it was a brilliant idea to get OEL, Pearson, Boeser, Myers and Miller bloated contracts so it would be impossible to put together a competitive team.
