  1. Another point to make is that the pressure is CLEARLY on the Avalanche here. For the last 2-3 years, they've been considered the top contender to win the Stanley Cup—especially this year. And they've failed to advance past round 2 until this year. Their core up front has been together longer, whereas key Edmonton depth help has just been put together by Holland this year. Some older pieces on Colorado's defense pairing that will need to be addressed if they give up a lot of goals in this series.

How will Colorado respond the the pressure? I feel a **KEY** development will be whether Edmonton starts the series strong. If they can get the Avs on their heels early with speed and consistent bombardment of high-quality scoring chances—perhaps win Game 1 or at least split the first 2 on the road—I feel the Avs might start pressing and could get away from their structured game plan. Worst thing the Oilers can do is start slow like they have often the past 2 series. Will be more difficult to recover deficits on the Avs and it will allow them to use all their depth.

  2. I watch every Avs game. Bowen Byram gets better and more confident every day. If he can stay healthy, his ceiling is scary. His game reminds me of Josi. I love Girard, but he’s a liability in front of the goal due to his size, and his injury is going to allow a better player in Byram to get more minutes.

  3. Big League eval, much appreciated. I love how you finally admitted Kane is "LeEt" :O

  4. Love these videos great analysis. Did you look at the blues shots on goal to scoring percentage for keumper? I like to think this blues team often lowers goalie stats because they don’t shoot as much on low chance opportunities. I don’t think keumper has been playing great but maybe it’s not as bad as the stats seem.

  5. McJesus the Gray has leveled up through the flames of Alberta . He is now McGod the White.

  6. Drai had to be moved to mcdavids line because he has a high ankle sprain that takes 6-8 weeks to heal and is playing on 1 leg. Choosing a 6 game sample when the centre is injured isn’t the “data” telling you anything. What it does tell me is you are willing to cherry pick line combinations and sample size in order to discredit the amazing performances some other oiler players are having because you can’t admit you’re at least slightly wrong. Oilers. Have. Depth. This. Year. I’ve commented this before, mcdavid is going freaking super nova and the oilers probably don’t make it past Calgary without him, but that doesn’t change the totals hyman kane and drai are putting up as well. Drai literally broke an nhl record with 17 points in 5 games for god sakes lol. Other than that good points made. I just greatly disagree with the point you made right at the end.

  7. This is a different team ever since Kane signed and they brought in Woodcroft.

  8. the sans-McDavid stats at 37:59 and 39:00 are jaw-dropping. I really did think the oilers had depth with Hyman, Kane and Drai… but McDavid was almost always there to see it happen. That actually hurts to have such a liability.

  9. Greetings from Ukraine! I follow Oilers, it helps take my mind off the horrible war in my country a little. McDavid & co are unbelievable. Looking forward to a fiery conference finale and an Edmonton win. Thanks for the preview!

  10. Oilers vs Avalanche (based on the top 10 in the NHL playoffs so far):

McDavid and Draisitl both have as many playoff points as Mckinnon and Makar combined (26-13/13).

The Oilers outscore the AV's 27-8.

    The Oilers in assists 38-10.

The Oilers lead 53-7 in +/-.

    Oilers 13-6 in PPP.

Smith has 8 wins to Kuemper's 6, which includes 2 shoutouts.

    Kuemper GAA: 2.44
    Smith GAA: 2.70

    Smith SV%: .927
    Kuemper SV%: ? (not in top 10)

    Smith: 381 saves
    Kuemper: 197 saves

    Smith: SA-411
    Kuemper: SA-218

    Just the stats.

  11. Rolling only 3 lines won’t get you a cup. You need 4 lines otherwise the Avs will skate you into the ground.

  12. Makar didn’t do shit in St. Louis series. Nothing to worry about that guy. Hit him every time he’s on the ice. Gotta be rough Vegas beat them last year with the same plan..

  13. Keumper certainly hasn’t been good but like 5 goals against him have been flukes like deflecting off his d mens sticks and such along with the fact that the blues had so few shots that he was always cold

  14. The oilers can score in a track meet but so can the Avs. The Avs can better defend and have more secondary scoring.

  15. The Oilers were going to lose against Los Angeles they were going to lose guaranteed against the flames and they are going to lose against Colorado, LOL

  16. Oilers will probably put out a stinker in game 1 and then bounce back. Win in 6 at home.

  17. Okay, so I have some issues with this comparison for CO, both for the goalie and special teams.

Kuemper definitely has been struggling, so I still agree to some degree. But he missed a couple games with an eye injury so his total number of games is lower and that makes some of these comparisons more difficult. Then you have to look at how he matched up against the Blues. Their style capitalized on mistakes, lucky bounces, and PP opportunites. That TANKS a goalie's stats and confidence, even if they ARE playing well, which he arguably wasn't.

But that special teams is another issue. Blues PP was absolutely killer, going 100% in one game I think? That's tanked their percentages, but in the last two games Bednar adjusted personnel and schemes and shut them down, even scoring an almost short handed goal with LOC. But looking at that percentage without factoring in how dominate the Blues are in that category is kind of short-sighted, IMHO.

  18. You said you're sorry, I don't actually think you're actually sorry. Lol. How are skewed these numbers, based on the fact that Edmonton played against LA and Calgary? Two teams that were dealt with handily by the avs, and weren't necessarily that good? It's pretty safe to say Colorado is the best team the oilers are to face this post season?

  19. The great Darryl Sutter couldn't solve them, sure Colorado might have a few better pieces but the Oilers system means they dictate the pace. Notice all those flame games looked the same, even the periods looked the same. AVS won't have an answer for transition game. Oilers in 4.

  20. Great One on this Preview Coach Rayan, you hit the ball out of the park, or you shot the puck straight into the net lol lol ,,,,anyways Hot Garbage Sports turning up the heat again.,,,, very solid commentary with lots of informative statistics and knowledgeable viewpoints,,,,, i totally agree its definitely hard to bet against Mcdavid.

We all know that Edmonton can score, so the main thing will be can they play good enough on defense to keep Colorado in check,,,,,, once the Oilers find a way to don't give up too many unnecessary goals,,,, then they will win for sure,,,,,, so lets see what happens,,,,, that's why they play the games.

  21. "McDavid is the goat"?

No, he's getting showed up by the goat every night in this series.

Bow down and recognize Nate MacKinnon as the best player in the world.

He's proving it every night. McDavid was -3 again last night, dude.

Let's stop talking about McDavid like he's great… He looks like a bum against better players in this series.

  22. "Conner McDavid is more valuable to his team than LeBron James"

I like this channel but yikes freezing cold take
