  1. How many times have the Oilers scored first this season? The guys just don't seem to want to compete at the level that most of their opponents are.

  2. Thank you Ira and take care all the best. May the wind be at your back and your glass always half full.

  3. Nurce needs to learn how to Goad a player over for a "chat"… and then launch the attack. Or, Do it Semenko style, where you don't even look at the guy you want to wail on. You skate into the pack casually, like your looking to keep the peace, and then it's Lights out in Duggan for said target. Weather? the hit on McD was legal or not is irrelevant. You hit the King, you pay the Piper!!))

  4. Oh boy..L0L.. The bad news.. This D spends way to much time making the KeyStone Cops look like the Harlem Globetrotters. I'm not gona mention how many times I advised signing Russell to a cheap 1 yr deal from way last year and on. There is no depth there at all. Losing Larson was really harsh, but Russell's leaving is really brutal with this batch. This PK does not look good, so far this entire year. It looks flat out bad. On the Positives, JP is doing pretty well. I wouldn't be giving up on him anytime soon. H'es tuffing up a bit. If he just realized his one hand need only hold a vise like grip, as the other hand turns the opponent into base for a soup. The Fog was solid again! Nice plays, appears he's turned a corner in his development. I like this Koskin fello! Nice work, was dangerous to a degree. It proves my old theory that if the first 4 letters in a players name is "Kosk".. You Keep that Player!! Janmark was pretty good with the limited time had to work with. And Hyman..Fantastic! As I've said before, A 50X more talented Craig McTavish. Relentless with a really solid work ethic night in and night out. And Holloway, looked better tonight then any other game he's played this year imo.
If this type of play continues, Win or Lose, I think Holland is going to forced to make some deals before to long. Likely within 2 – 6 weeks.

  5. While credit must be given to the King's defensive game (especially their ability to block shots), the knee on knee hit by KIng's defenseman Edler against McDavid was not only dirty but it was also very dangerous. In fact, it is this kind of play that could easily not only end a hockey player's career but could also leave the victim crippled for the rest of their life. So, with this being the case, the responsible officials of the NHL should take this matter under serious consideration and take the appropriate actions and make it be known that vicious plays such as this would not be tolerated in the future.

  6. The Kings are a dirty crappy team…such a boring style they play. Edler should be suspended for 10 games. The NHL needs to do what the NBA does and protect its star players. I hope the Kings go on a 10 game losing streak.

  7. Every pre-game it's the same old verbage about starting well and playing consistent defense, and then a lot of the time it turns out to be verbal b.s. … A team that they very much needed to beat, takes it to them in the first period. … L.A. played the Oilers like a cheap harmonica. They knew exactly what they wanted to do – and they did it. The Oilers had their usual slow start and then L.A. played chippy and close-checking hockey and made the Oilers look nowhere near to being a Cup Contender. And, guess what . . . the Oilers are nowhere near to being a Cup Contender. 4-6 at home.

  8. In a typical game Oilers consistently concede 1st goal, consistently get outshot and consistently get more shots blocked than their opponent. These are critical issues…..Vegas coming… 9-9? I'd love to see more bulldog in the Oilers…. more dictating. Those games are too few and far in between against top teams. The Oilers look like a middle division team. I don't worry about the talent on the team as I am more concerned with the "in between the ears"… I worry about the ability of this team to sustain success and motivation in the lulls that predictably occur after their top talent strikes. ~ playing complete games.

  9. David your bad point is
bang on. This team just cannot understand the game is 60 min. They are like the NHL the game starts 20 min late every night. It is tiring to see how well they played last year when JW came in to where they are now with very little difference in roster up front. Thanks for what you guys do condolences to Ira and family.

  10. We're plagued buy poor starts and players with zero confidence aka JP, I love his defense abilities but he Is a drag offensively.. we need Kane 😔

  11. If only Nurse had tried to block a shot on the PK instead of whatever move he made there, the team would’ve had a better chance to win. His defensive commitment sure isn’t there. He aspires to be an offensive D man more so than a defensive one. Perhaps we need to consider a trade for a legitimate shutdown type defensive D man?

  12. bring Russell back to teach the oilers how to block shots. not enough heart or GRIT ON THE OILERS RIGHT NOW

  13. Always love the COH analysis/review -Thanks Ira,David,Bruce,Kurt.. all great. Over time can see it is the ERRORS that are causing the losses – do we identify who is causing/how to improve? When McD said LA is well coached – starting to wonder why some guys just don't seem to know where they need to posn themselves – seem to be coasting vs rushing to the danger person on the other side.. -even when they score ie McLeod,Bouch etc? Does Bouchard realize blasting pucks into pads is a Turnover & kills drives? Does Holland realize getting & pairing elite guys w guys that can't finish weakens the line; Foegele, Pulju, Yama, then Murray,Campbell? Lot to be pleased about but seems we need to understand & slow the errors??

  14. when your top players are the defensive culprits, the coaches have to gut it out and hold those players responsible. I don’t know if this has ever happened in the McD /Dry era. The lapses continue to consistently occur.

  15. I agree with David that Kostin and Janmark stood out tonight. It's telling that two call ups stand out more than most others on the team! To many players have zero or negative influence.

  16. David: "I gotta get up real early in the morning, 6:00am." lol Pretty sure every working person alive gets up before 6:00am on the regular. What a pussy.

  17. Oilers are playing boring predictable hockey! Won’t make the playoffs if this continues. Slow lazy starts almost got scored on the first shift. Where is the heart and soul ? Passion ? Ya pretty disappointing.
