No team is signing Sandin to an offer sheet! Too small…too inconsistent…unproven
You can't match an offer sheet and then trade the player within a year of the day you match.
Any offersheet for a player is for an amount that the offering team feels the original team will not match. That would be for 3 – 4.2M (probably a short deal).
It's unlikely, but it would be a stinky situation, because the kind of money that could get Sandin to sign as an RFA could mean that if the Leafs declined to match the offer sheet then they might not even get a first round pick in return. I don't Dubas would want to lose Sandin for a 2nd round pick, yikes.
Wait isnt Myers a wonderful skater. Size and skating are is top assets on all scouting reports ive looked at. Iq is a weak point
I mean, do you not think that the Leafs could've used that as an opportunity to try and dump a contract like Muzzin's and a 4th to acquire a contract like Myer's to free up cap space?

Sandin will be a trade chip as part of a package I suspect….. sucks, but we need Mrazek gone and more money off the books.
Tampa got a little weaker with this trade….and that's a good thing for the East ✅….and they will continue to get weaker, and older.

One problem with Toronto is the cost of living. Unless a player has already made a lot of money in their career, I don't see them taking a discount to slum it up in Toronto.
i liked what u said about shiping justin holl..he reminds me of a dion phaneuf a bit…not a big fan of him or his contract. i mean hes at a good price…big size and physical and some teams would be all over that, he has trade value..
lilgegren was benched game 3 and up for holl…that move i didnt agree with…lilly was playing well..fast player…holl is slower and its a speed game not size game so much
leafs are looking good on the back end…i think bushkin will be gone….right handed D yes are more valueable then left as they are much more rare..their like 4 lefty to a right in the NHL..im right handed and still shoot left…for under 3 mill or 2.5 they should try and hang onto him…
i know they need to retain salary in buyouts but with no trade clauses thats maybe what will be needed…no1 will pay 3.8 for mrazek and hes not a number 1…thats a buy out, plus their 3rd string goalie kilgren is showing lots of promise and could take the number 1 role over this year as the leafs are not in talks with cambell..he wants a payday for sure…hes looking at atleast 6 maybe even 7 mill and think he will get 6 from another squad..
simmonds doesnt even have a cap hit..hes a buy out..tavares is complicated…he has NTC…and not worth the 11 mill and has good value…buf and habs wanted em bad..habs still need line 1 center leafs no not with marner mathews…leafs need more wingers…hyman was a tough loss..JVR aswell….wish they would up the salary cap..yea no 67 on leafs jersey…wear 22 or 23…

as for the oiler, F barrie…i know exactly who your talking about…said mathews cant play D, that was true then…he was lacking, i call it the way i see it..barrie aint much differnt then me..lol…but that really changed this year so barrie can stfu. Mathews only 60 goal scorer this year and really played well on D this year..he really kicked his defencive game up (so did barrie, he played well too..) and he plays with mcdavid and draistil…who wouldnt play well with hyman always getting u the puck(maybe most under rated and hardest worker NHL) and mcdavid. he plays with team canadas captain, as for leafs managment, they are under alot of pressure, toronto is the center of the hockey world, no other team has more fans..who won rocket richard, lady bing and hart trophies, and barrie was talking smack about mathews? lol? what did barrie win? thats right..he won.nothing…so now instead of talking smack about mathews hes taking jabs at management…
remember 1 thing : rocket richard trophy is 50+ goals…i wouldnt have accpted it…i didnt get 50…i got 60 …want MATHEWS TROPHY, barrie was dismissed….they should have a great 1 trophy…93 goals 1 year wasnt it?? or 98 i 4get ..i lost count..yet the man has no trophies named after him..lol…gretz killed the rocket richard trophy, he won like 2 per season almost LOL…even brett hull had like 90+ goals a year or 2
mathews wanted that 60 bad too and he got it…you know marner and mates helped him…but man he was determined…last time the leafs won Hart(MVP) was 67 i think. was close race tho between him and connor…
happy for NAZ , wasnt him that F the leafs over it actually wasnt a bad trade…losing barrie hyman and JVR and naz hurt..they shoulda signed barrie before the kadri deal…
Naz was a keeper just needed internal dicipline, kessel won back to back cups with pens after that trade leafs made, so they are not greatest at trades….trading sandin would be a mistake..even for a 1st i wouldnt…
losing anderson was a big blow too…all these players they lost many they could have kept if they were smarter with thier money, they needa stop forking out 11 mill deals and all these NTC to everyone…
dubis isnt an experienced GM …he is smart tho…dont be suprised to see a cambel trade this week with devils for blackwood and muzzin return to the kings and mrazek bought out and kilgren take over number 2 behind blackwood and leafs sign sandin…i have been fallowing hockey very close 30 years..specially the leafs, i think they will pull these triggers……
keep in mind Sandin is 22 years old..he hasnt hit his prime yet(25) …his value is threw the roof…u know i agree with alot of what u guys say…he is like the next morgan reilly…not sure he will ever hit that skill level but if he doesnt it wont be far behind…reilly works the blue line by himself and pinches…
he usuallly does that when marner is on the ice…u do realize marner played all positions(including D) in the ohl, on the london knights…reilly puts alot of trust in marner to drop back…
When tavares signed in toronto he said he wanted to play specifically with marner…he did for a few years until they switched up and put mitch with austin..with marner exceptional passing and mathews as sniper…shoots the same spot ovie does, just on oppoisite side they are a 2 man line like lemiex and jagr were in early 90's
