The Devils will trade Pavel Zacha, prospects Graeme Clarke and Akira Schmid and the 2nd pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft to the Wild for Kevin Fiala and then sign Johnny Gaudreau to a 7-year, $84 million contract.

As a Devils fan, we should go for any of Fiala, DeBrincat, Tkachuk, Pastrnak, Forsberg, Chychrun, or Boeser. Gaudreau is 28, and Miller is 29, while the rest of the available top line players are in their early or mid 20s. We should acquire one or two of the younger guys instead, so that they can stay with us long term. If we get Gaudreau or Miller, we'd be signing them to 7-year contracts for them only for them to run out of steam 3 years into the contract. Their contracts are going to become albatrosses halfway through.
Meanwhile, the younger players that I just mentioned are in the peak prime right now, like Forsberg, or are already superstars that haven't even hit their peaks yet like Fiala, DeBrincat, and Tkachuk. With the exception of Tkachuk, all of these younger guys are more affordable with a much longer prime ahead of them. If we sign someone like Fiala or DeBrincat to 7-8M for 7 years, that'll be one of the biggest steals in hockey because it would take them through all of their 20s at a cap hit that they'll vastly outperform. That's a way better option than signing one of two borderline 30 year olds until they're almost 40 at 10M per year.

Playing with Coots and Farabee would give him another 100 point season! Don't think he wants to play in NJ , for the Devil's anyway
Only concern as a devils fan is the size because when they eventually do make the playoffs I can't see em going far bc they'll physically get killed.

Johnny is a flyer fan because he is from south jersey, Philly is a way faster drive compared to Newark but because he is a flyer fan there would be no loyalty when signing a contract which scares me. Also he isn’t the biggest which is something the devils need. Don’t get me wrong tho I would love to have him but at what price because the number 1 priority should be resigning bratt

Buying high on Gaudreau is not ideal imo. That contract will be a team killer for years to come
I would love him too, but not at the cost of our 2nd Overall. If they throw the first round of 2023, it has to be a Top-ten protected.
