There's NO WAY that Hellebuyck is gonna leave the Jets!!! He's a staple in Winnipeg. As a Jets fan I'm positive that they'll never let go of him.
Jack Campbell is a good goalie not a great goalie. He is not a goalie that can sustain a whole season. Injury prone like Anderson. He showed that in January, worn from fatigue. Leafs should not waste big dollars on him someone will and it will be a mistake. Leafs also make Campbell look good
Connor Hellebuyck is a game breaker, Campbell did not look good in games against Tampa, Vas stood tall when needed
Why is no one talking about Brayden Holtby as an option? He’s a UFA and made 2 million with Dallas this season. Ottinger owns the net for the Stars now. Leafs might be able to get him for 2.5 – 3.
If Campbell won't sign then bring back Felix Potvin and Damian Rhodes the 2nd best netminder in MTU HUSKIES history.

Give me McTavish, Gibson and 10th for Nylander, Sandin, Robertson, Amirov. Draft a near ready power forward with the 10th and with the 28th get a solid D upgrade.
Then swap Kerfoot, Engvall and Holl in a smaller scale package for a really solid D with upside like Ryan Graves.
Keep Lybushkin. Holl and Muzzin gone. Let Duszak play as he tore it up for the Marlies.
Promote Douglas and McMann and tinker the 3rd and 4th line a bit.

Why go for Gibson? His numbers have been mediocre at BEST since 2019. Helle would be a good upgrade but would be more costly. If the Leafs wasted Kerfoot/Holl/Robertson/1st to aquire Gibson and ditch Mrazek we would tar and feather Dubas in the middle of Maple Leaf Square.

Campbell has been great. Andersen had great moments too.
The only thing is, Jack never stole 1 out his 5 elimination games and that's the difference between a top goalie and a streaky one.

Getting Gibson is like playing Russian roulette! Maybe when he first come in, but not at his price tag, if he was worth that money the ducks should be in the playoffs.
I just think Campbell is better than Gibson man… I don't think that's a great swap.

Muzzin, Mrazeck, Holl = 11,425 mil gone salary, some draft picks , or prospects Gone , acquire marchand and gibson, maybe get rid of another dude for slary dump like kerfoot ( if we can keep him, we keep him) then the lines could look like this.

$3.5M is the most I'd give Campbell!
Rumour has it Sandin wants out. Revise that deal to include him, and some of the other assets for Gibson, with a salary dump included.
The biggest problem with getting gibson is that you have to give up a lot of prospects/picks to get him, and you probably have to send mrasek over. With Jack, you just have to sign him and probably for less. While I hear that Jack and Mrasek are both going, I find it hard to believe Jack isn't the best out of a bunch of non-ideal options.
For me, the 2nd line is such a disaster 5-on-5 that I think you gotta spend your resources there instead. The goal should be to make John Tavares the best player he can be, and to create a line that is worth 20 million spent on it. Right now, they only score 3.45 goals every 60 minutes but they allow 3.45 goals every 60 minutes, which basically means they accomplish absolutely nothing outside of the power play. That isn't good enough.
And if there's no way to make Tavares into a player that is worth even 9 million dollars, then trade him and start that line over. Right now, his contract is almost as much as McDavid, and he's like 1/4 the player McDavid is.
That's fine, John Gibson is a good goalie, we can make a trade with the Ducks, just don't trade Willy Nylander to the Flyers for Todd Konecny and a jar of magic beans.
Everyone loves soupy, but they need to be careful not to overpay for a 30 year old goalie. Dubas needs to Play this smart. First he needs to start by shedding some contracts. Kerfoot is a warrior the way he can move up and down the lineup and slot into center if it's needed but at 3.5 he may have to go and Mrazek for sure somehow. Mrazek isn't impossible but it's gonna take a pretty good sweetener to move him imo. I also wouldn't be upset to see Nylander get moved, BUT only if it makes the team better. Goaltending, is the main issue and has been all year..maybe a top 6 LW to play with JT and they have lots of cheap guys on the Marlies who can be depth guys if need be.
Gibson for Nylander 1 for 1
Gibson is a top tier goalie. Needs better D in front of him and a team that can score which fits the leafs. This is coming from a life long Ducks fan. Nylander for Gibson makes sense especially when it comes to wages.
6.4 mill cap hit. who's leaving town. mrazak probably won't generate any intrest unless they package him up with another roster player. leafs still need to go out and get a good stopper. i'm on the west coast and watch the ducks a lot. he has broken canuck hearts many nights.
Toronto fans are in denial or overvalue players.
To get Gibson you'd have to give Mrazek 2nd round pick, Robertson/Sandin probably more
Toronto cannot afford Jack Campbell or John Gibson, not without trading away one of their high priced players. They have $7.5M left to hit cap ceiling and need to sign 7 players. Good luck. No way Campbell is taking a discount, he’s made $5.7 only in his career. He’s over 30, this could very well be his only chance to cash in. He’s not like Spezza or Giordano that already made their money and he is not from TO. Time will tell but my guess is Toronto at max can afford a goalie around $2-$3M and will have to go again with 1a & 1b
And in real world, no one is taking on your bad contracts without a significant package and Holl or Kerfoot or TJ Brodie or Simmonds ain’t it. You guys don’t want them and neither does anyone else.
I hate to burst the bubble of Leafs fans but the Ducks are not interested in picks and prospects as the main components in a Gibson trade. They've already stock piled picks the last two trade deadlines having 14 picks in the 1-3 rounds of the next three drafts. Toronto also has very late round picks because they are a great team meaning their picks are less valuable in general.
On the prospect front the Ducks have the #1 rated pool in the entire NHL according to The Hockey News future watch. A kid like Robertson might be a good prospect, but unless he'll be truly elite in the NHL (and that's very much in doubt IMO) he isn't going to move the needle for the Ducks.
The Ducks need impact NHL players under the age of 26. That is NOT Holl. That is NOT Kerfoot (has a M-NTC that likely includes Anaheim). I get that Nylander is seen as an untouchable here, but be realistic from the Anaheim side. Nylander is the only Leafs player that makes them a better team and the only purpose of a trade is make the team better.
Gibson and Sonny Milano for Nylander and Mrazek I think is a pretty good basis for a trade (not saying these pairs straight up… just the core of the trade).
Milano gives the Leafs a nice top six option that they can pay about 2 to 2.5 AAV to slide into Nylander's spot and the Ducks eat that awful Mrazek contract to give the Leafs some more cap flexibility.

Nobody wants any of those marshmallows for the price. The Leafs are cooked for another season.
