Jay is the new breed of young coach that has a very psychological way of getting his message and mantra across.
His talk of Connor growing to the next stage of leadership is his way of manifesting this for Connor and the team. It’s interesting to see how leadership has changed and coaching has changed yet the fundamentals still remain….Someone should do a book on Sather and how he brought out the best in his teams and brought them together and lead them to glory.
I get the feeling Jay is doing the same yet albeit he is dealing with a different mindset of players in a different time in the game. I’m not trying to compare or cast a shadow of the past over this group but rather identify that the Oilers are at a stage where they can build on their coaches vision and psychological leadership style just as they did in the past. Conceive Believe Achieve…..the CFL Grey Cup Player of the game yesterday said when asked about previous adversity- you have to have dreams, then believe you can achieve them then be persistent and consistent through all adversity and your dreams will come true.
