the problem with dealing karlsson is not many teams can take on that cap hit.
i keep saying the deal is with dallas. karlsson (2m retained) for seguin, mavrik bourque, and a 2024 1st. sharks get a really good prospect and a 1st, stars get that 9.5m shifted to a more useful position and in the form of a better player. karlsson takes the role klingberg had there last year, and is an upgrade. also EK plays on a team with a chance to win.

On January 12, 2023, a Blank/Ressler-led Atlanta-based group will finalize and close out the deal to purchase the Senators. Following this season, a Blank/Ressler-led Atlanta-based group will pay a relocation fee to relocate the Senators from Ottawa to Atlanta prior to next season. On June 27, 2023, the NHL Board of Governors will approve the relocation of the Senators to Atlanta in a 30-2 vote, only Thomas Dundon of the Carolina Hurricanes and Mark Chipman of the Winnipeg Jets will vote against the relocation. Next season, the Senators will relocate to Atlanta after 31 seasons in Ottawa to become the 2nd incarnation of the Atlanta Thrashers and play at State Farm Arena, while the Belleville Senators of the AHL will relocate to College Park to become the College Park Thrashers and play at Gateway Center Arena at College Park, marking the NHL's triumphant return to Atlanta for the 1st time since the original Atlanta Thrashers became the 2nd incarnation of the Winnipeg Jets in 2011.

Leafs need a top four defenceman and good 2 nd or 3rd line left winger possibly another defenceman
Leafs could use more offence from their 3rd line. I would not break into tears if Engvall was shipped out. Thought Jarnkrok would provide a bit more offence than he has. This is where the loss of Mikhayev and Kase is starting to show. Like Vatrano, he played well with NYR in the playoffs. As usual, depends on if Ducks actually interested in trading him (I have some doubts), as well as what they want for him. That being said, main focus has to be upgrading the D core.
