I love that our problems are now due to our team being too good

Devils content??? The athletic??? Wtf

A 13 game win streak has forced some devils content- Right after my sub finally lapsed.
Anyone have the sparknotes?

It’s simple really. Devils are going to win the cup. Nico is going to lift it skate his lap then hand it to Severson. Haters will cry Severson will smile then ride off into the sunset to collect his bag

Is this some kind of secret? Anyone familiar with the team has long known that at least one of Severson or Graves is unlikely to be on the team next year. I know it sucks for Severson to be the odd man out now that the team is starting to find success, but that’s the reality of a salary cap league.

It is going to depend where the Devils are at the deadline. If the Devils are in a strong position heading to the post season, they may keep him and try for a good run even if that means Severson walks at the end of the season and they « get nothing for him ». If teams are interested and make a great offer I don’t think they can dismiss those out of hand. If the wheels fall off it is another story.
They have two high pick Dmen coming thru in the near future, Marino, Sigenthaler, Hamilton are all signed for a good bit of time, Graves is another FA but will command less then Severson on the open market. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them hang onto him and go all in on whatever this year holds in terms of a playoff run.

Even though Luke Hughes is a lefty apparently he’s been playing mostly RD at Michigan. If both him and Nemec play on the right side then yeah there is no future for Severson on this team. Hopefully we can re sign Graves is the price is right. Don’t want to go into next year with Smith as our second paring LD.

Resign Graves, and a hometown offer to Severson at the end of the season.
It’s more important for this team to do as well as possible in the playoffs than it is to get assets for Severson. Think of it as a rental that you didn’t have to trade for.
