I remember Lehner said it at one point and I’m sure there have been other goalies too, but he said playing goalie was harder in the AHL than the NHL. The shooting talent in the NHL is obviously higher, but the systems and defensive structures, specifically the lack there of, in the AHL can make it harder for a goalie to play well.

Think of how bad our defense is at the NHL level…and then realize that over the last 2 years we have scrapped all the AHL talent just for bodies…and try to play goalie behind that
