40+ years Habs fan here. This is the most fun team to watch since Lafleur was flying down the wing. I know we are a few years away from challenging for the cup but I’m really enjoying this young group of skilled players grow.
Went into this season, really not expecting anything. Knew this team would surprised many people, but I had zero expectations. So the fact that they are a game above 500 through the first 1/4 of the season, is definitely a pleasant surprise.
As far as the rotating D. Don't like it. Xhekej/Kovacevic is a much better pairing than Harris/Wideman. I know Xhekej said he doesn't care if he doesn't dress for every game, but to be honest, it does neither him or Harris to only play every other game.
Choose one to play (Xhekej) in Montreal, the other gets sent down to Laval to play first pairing minutes.
The only other thing I could see is do it by 10 game intervals. Harris goes to Laval for 10 games, Xhekej plays with Mtl for 10 games…then switch them. Either of them along side Kovacevic, Wideman is your 7th D in case of injuries. But lets face it. Either Harris or Xhekej are better than Wideman, so even if there was an injury, you would just call the other back up to play in place of the injured player, and leave Wideman riding the pine.
As far as goaltending. Ride the hot hand. Monty has it, Allen doesn't. Ride that horse until he has the hot hand no more and then switch. Or, just play them every other game, whichever. If Monty continues to play like he did last night….and lets be fair, pretty much every game he has played, even the losses were close so even in the losses he has looked good. Come trade deadline, trade Allen for picks.

Enjoyed watching the game. Great bounce back and a stellar performance by Montembeault.

This team is so much fun to watch after last year's bottom feeders!

I have said it before, but this is the most Habs fun I have had since the 90's.
