– They start off by talking about Montembeualt, with Gallo saying he has been the better goalie this season. Denis thinks that in the game against Columbus, the Habs were definitely a bit more defensively conscious after their embarrassing loss to the Sabres. That said, Montembeault has also improved his game. In particular, Montembeault is making himself look bigger in the net, and is battling through traffic better. He’s also making the big saves when we need them. The host talks about how last year we had a lot of trouble coming back in games because as soon as we would start a push, we’d give up a bad goal that deflates the team. This year though, with Montembeault in net, we are getting those key saves. Denis thinks Montembeault should get the start on Friday.
– They talk about Xhekaj, with Denis saying that he brings something to the team that no one else does. While we have a rotation going on D, if you can make yourself indispensable like Ghule did, you will get the ice time. Denis compliments that consistency of Xhekaj’s game, saying that even after sitting, he came back and played a solid game. This consistency will go a long way with coaches.
– They change topics to Kirby Dach, with Starr saying that he has 17 points in 20 games with the Habs. Why has Dach fit in so well here? Denis says that part of the reason for his success is playing with two incredible players in Suzuki and Caufield. Aside from that, he is also playing with more confidence. In Chicago, coaches often thought he played a little lackadaisical, but that may have been partially due to never being given much responsibility. Denis likes the way Dach brings something unique to the top line. His size and puck protection help out Suzuki and Caufield.
– The host doesn’t think Dach was brought in to be a winger but be our 2C. He asks if we should keep him at wing since that is where he is flourishing, or if we should stick to our long-term plan and get him back at centre. Denis doesn’t think there is any rush. If Dach is succeeding playing on the wing, leave him there for now. Let him get confidence and improve his game, then down the road you can try him at centre again.
– Starr asks if it is easier for a coach on the road since they can keep a simpler strategy. Denis doesn’t think so. When on the road it is harder to get practices in. That is why Denis would keep Montembeault in net since he is performing well, and we don’t have the opportunity to give Allen some practice time to find his game again. Same thing with Harris, he should sit until we get back home and he can get some practices under his belt.
– They then talked about college football. I’m going to be honest, I stopped paying attention during this part.

I like monty, but he has to work on not giving up thibault sized rebounds

Always an upvote from me. Good work as always thanks!
Allen will bounce back, but I agree that for now, let’s see where Montembeault goes. Still miss Price though, that’s for sure.

Did he really say lackadaisical? Lmao

For all the grief I’ve given Monty, he’s earned the additional starts. I’d let him have Chicago for sure. This will give Allen a physical and mental break until they face the Sharks.

Monty has earned the starter spot for sure imo. That being said, I really don’t mind if our season gets tanked by shitty goaltending. Losing every game 6-5 is pretty much exactly where we would want to be this year, that way we get another top prospect and the boys play well.

None of these goalies are going to be around once our rebuild is done. Remember that.
