Wow .. that highlight package really solidifies our teams goaltending and defensive issues … I haven't been able to watch a full game in almost 2 weeks. I wind up turning it off 2nd period when its 3-1 yet again
But the Sens were supposed to be better than the Leafs we were all told by Sens fans

DJ Smith gets a lot of blame & I don’t watch many sens games so it could be his fault in some capacity but Pierre’s the one who didn’t bring in enough on defence. DJ can’t play on the blue line.
If Dorion wants to keep his job he has to change the coach. If he doesn't he will go down with this ship for sure.
Absolutely GMPD is to blame. One good “Summer of Pierre” isn’t enough to overlook:
1) the failure of the GM and scouting staff of veteran players by bringing in ineffective veteran players that fail to help the team (huge waste of roster spot for a younger player, and a waste of potential good mentorship).
2) Allowing DJ Smith early on in the rebuild to play favoured veterans (like Zaitsev,etc) while benching/not playing the young players.
3) Allowing DJ Smith and Jack Capuano to keep their jobs despite the obvious failure of defensive structure on this team.
I really think that this season should have brought a new head coach and defensive coach. DJ has brought the team to a point where they work hard every night and has the players creating a great culture in the room. That’s great, and that’s all he can do. I truly don’t think DJ is the type of coach this team needs to get their superstar and the team to the next level.
What’s worse is that the young guys we have (like Sanderson, JBD, Thomson), are not learning the type of defensive structure that is needed to succeed. This is only stunting this team’s growth
