That was a soul sucking game.
Flames did nothing out there today. Decent cardio at least.

Afternoon games suck so hard. Cant win if you cant score or get shots on net. Lots of our shots were blocked, and it was just their night. Damn it all
Ruzicka has a couple bad shifts and gets demoted to 4th line. Plays great (relative to the rest of the team) the rest of the game and stays there.
Lucic takes a terrible penalty and costs us a goal. He goes right back out there the next shift.
What kind of message are you sending to your team with decisions like this?
Felt like a typical flames matinee game
Need to go through some adversity to go from a good team to a great team.
Our only hope is that the team somehow manages to figure things out because we are really limited on what changes we can make due to the moves that were made in the offseason.
I know there’s a lot of negative comments today. But props to all of you people that still stick around with 1 min left in a 3-0 game, with no chance of winning! Haha. This is how you separate the wheat from the chaff.
It looks dire now. But I predict a big swing this season, at some point. Remember that we just have to get in the playoffs, then anything could happen. Look at all the teams that peaked at the right time, and made a crazy run.
Peak?! PEAK?! We haven’t even begun to peak, and when we do. Everyone is gonna feel it.
Look. It sucks. One small sliver of hope is that they presently have the worst PDO in the entire league. Things will have to turn around eventually. And even with the worst “luck” they’re only painfully mediocre so if things can start bouncing their way a bit the Flames will be fine.
Okay, that was really bad. We’re getting zone time and shots, but we just have zero offensive cohesion whatsoever to actually generate high quality scoring chances.
Thing is, its still early in the season – there is time to make changes and turn this around. For one, just get Matty Calgary into this lineup and give him a real chance on the team. I dont care if we have to waive someone like Rooney, Tre needs to suck it up and admit that if we are going to win, we need to actually make a bold move. Phillips is on pace to clear 40 goals this year in the minors. Enough is enough. He has stuck with this franchise for years. Give him his shot. He’s earned it.
And to think, I left school to watch this game. Definitely would’ve been happier doing trigonometry. What a fun afternoon…
When we win its by the skin of our teeth when we lose its death by a thousand cuts. It seems like they’re just playing to get tons of corsi because everything is from the point and they just cycle and cycle without generating anything dangerous.
Also please scratch Lucic he brings absolutely nothing to the team anymore (no fights this season) and is starting to cost this team goals.
Also starting to get real sick of Sutter’s shit. Lewis was the worst forward on the ice in terms of xGF% and yet got bumped onto the top line for no reason.

The entire forward group looks lost. If its 1 or 2 guys I get it, but there are a lot of players not playing close to their potential rn. Huberdeau in particular… like you can’t have your 10.5m dollar winger averaging under 17 mins a night and playing with 3rd line-caliber players. And the horrible goalie management and stubbornness to be creative with the group and not giving youth a chance… just tough to see
This team has had some really bad hockey in recent years (see 2017-18 and 2020-21 flames), and this is getting up there with regards to how unwatchable the product is. Brutal .

What a weird game
Washington looked bad and we had no problems limiting their chances and getting lots of zone time. But we managed to piss that away and barely generated any memorable chances.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Flames look this lost offensively. I have no idea how you don’t score a single goal in that game. I don’t have anything to add to all the comments about Sutter’s lines but this is getting pretty ridiculous.

Seriously…. if we are going to even MAKE it to the playoffs…. we can’t be letting in a muffin EVERY SINGLE GAME… and there were a couple…. Hate to say it…. I’m starting to trust Vladar over Markstrom, there is something seriously wrong with him this season… whether its an injury or between the ears…. He is not a #1 right now. He has gotten a decent runway this season to figure it out, and hasn’t yet. Yes, I know he has made some big saves, but he needs to steal us games… not cost them for us. You could literally see the team deflate after that puck under the pads.
Gonna need to acquire some scoring asap or this could be a long year
