Quel est l’avenir de Mattias Norlinder avec le Tricolore ? Il a l’impression qu’il ne peut plus se faire une place dans la grande équipe depuis quelques années maintenant et ce sera encore plus difficile lorsque Hutson, Mailloux etc arriveront également.

I really feel like Norlinder is done within the organization, as it currently stands. He hasn’t done enough to set himself apart from the pack and as you said with other young talent on the back end coming up, it will be even harder for him.
However, depending on who gets shipped out at the deadline as we are purportedly set to be big sellers, that may change. I think he can still become a consistent NHLer, but not a top end talent like so many on this sub were saying he would become and not on the Habs. Best case is that we trade him for a pick or prospect from a team that feels he can crack their roaster. Either that or he goes back to Europe to tear it up and build up his value to be signed later.

But 5 or 6 years ago someone in Europe compared his ceiling to that of Lidstroms!
Who remembers when this sub thought he was the next Lidstrom?
We still have two years with him under contract and waiver exempt. It’s not like a decision need to be made right now about him. It’s not like he doesn’t help at Laval right now.
I would trade him
As much as I didn’t agree with the overhyping this guy used to get from fans, now I’d have to say that it’s just as wrong to say he’s finished with the team. He’s still 22, playing a position where late-bloomers are common. I think we have two years of control on this contract as well.
With what a crap show Laval has been this year, I would not focus so much on this season until the nepo-hire head coach there is fired.
Habs are in a position to just wait and see with Norlinder and that’s what they should do.
I wish fans would start to understand you can’t use a RHD easily on left and vice versa. Norlinder is competing against Mailloux
He was the next golden child. How the mighty have fallen. I’ve learned to temper my expectations over the years regarding our prospects.
Trade him give him a chance with another team that Is willing to play him in the bigs

Not only do we seem to over hype our prospects, but we are just as quick to give up on them.
Is he going to be a #1 defenceman, not likely. He’s has all the tools to make it to the NHL though, and as I’ve always been told, defencemen take longer to develop.
He can always become a trade chip if the log jam is a problem.
Norlinder is the best example of a super skilled player who’s skill does not translate at higher levels. He’s not playing In the J20s anymore
