Elias Pettersson has been excellent this season in terms of the expected goals stat (xG) but what he's doing to his linemates as well as Quinn Hughes and Nils Hoglander's control of the goal share (GF%) is extremely impressive.
Hughes' GF% going from 45.83% to 85.71% is bonkers. pic.twitter.com/w14L0zg1W0

It’s crazy how this time last year, a lot of people were writing off Petersson, and there was a lot of low IQ takes around Petey last year.
This year, he’s getting back that shine as a Datsyuk-like player and it’s been a treat to watch EP40.
I cannot believe we did not lock him up 8 years whether it was 9-10 million it would be worth. It is so clear Petey was a superstar in this league from just his rookie year. He might demand 11-12 mill or more with the cap rising now
He’s not falling as much anymore. Thats all I cared about
Fantastic player that this team needs to convince to re-sign. Likely means tanking is off the table.
If we can dump Myers and Boeser while minimizing the cap we take back beyond this season, sign Horvat to a reasonable contract, sign a RHD in UFA (Zub? Livingstone out of college?), and Demko gets back on track, team is in pretty good shape to be competitive for 3-4 years. Will they win a cup? Almost assuredly not, but that would be a huge win after 8 years of complete mismanagement.
