1. Guenther isn’t even that bad! He’s on a bad coyotes team and has 9 points in 17 games. For a rookie on a bad team I’d say he’s doing fine.

  2. I still think letting Trevor Linden go instead of letting him patiently rebuild the team was a mistake.

  3. I can't figure out the Canucks. They look solid on paper. Usually that means a lack of team chemistry.

  4. I love how poolman and Meyers combine for a 8.5m cap hit. Ruining your own team is nice, but screwing over another team that's trying to rebuild a defense group at the same time is downright impressive. I've never been angrier about a UFA signing than those two. So stupid

  5. If it was me, after looking at the numbers, and the dollar values assigned, so Vancouver could keep Horvat, remember TRADE DEADLINE day is fast approaching see Perron and Vegas, what happens when players don't sign contracts by Trade Deadline day. If it was me, I'm Demanding Myers plus multiple first round picks, and settling for Myers + 1st + 2nd = Vancouver's back is against the wall and there's other right shot D around the league looking for work.

  6. If this team keeps trusting this core that fails repeatedly year over year and never, ever controls their destiny of how they're going to do, they're literally never going to even come close to trying to be competing with this core. If they don't trade Horvat while they can, in order to salvage something out of this failing core, this will be the biggest failed team in modern NHL history. So basically, we as Canucks fans will likely have to wait until 2035 before they have a legit chance of competing. Jesus Christ, I became a fan of this team at the wrong time (courtesy of a then-uninformed person who was mesmerized by the Burrows OT goal in Game 7 in April 2011).

  7. Yep, we have too many wingers. We could have gotten a non-lottery protected 1st round pick for Miller and likely one prospect, and the Canucks wanted more than that, which is total bullshit. And now the worst result is happening, the Canucks are winning games they shouldn't be, which means they will likely pick in the low teens AGAIN, damn it.

  8. What is common from Gillis, Benning and now Rutherford/Allvin is the owner. If somehow in fantasyland the Aquilini family can get fired that would be great. I bet the owners have been pressuring Gillis and Benning to "get better right away" because the Aquilinis had no issues with Benning signing Myers, Beagle, OEL etc while foolishly trading away draft picks. Vancouver has always attracted "get rich quick" tycoons who never learnt to start businesses or hire the right management since they got in the NHL 50+ years ago. Look at how a true entrepreneur like Mike Ilitch was able to build the Detroit Red Wings from scratch and make it Stanley Cup winners in the 90s— and many other businesses that Ilitch ran.

  9. I like looking at this specific example with the relevant recent Canucks history to point at. It makes me interested in looking ahead to how my Kraken forecast is gonna look with our intro contracts, and how we've already unloaded some more expensive players already like Giordano + Jarnkrok to Toronto last year.

  10. Just a note on the Guenther topic. He has 9 points in 17 games. Garland has ten points in 21. If Guenther turns out elite this trade will go down as perhaps the worst in franchise history. If I had to choose today, salary concerns aside, between one of these players with a view of the present to 5-6 years forward, Guenther wins easily. If you factor in the salary realities (cap hits, controlabilty) it becomes a no brainer.

  11. Does Benning know what a sh*t show of a manager he was from Day 1? Someone has to rub is nose in it because we have to live with it. Fu*k he was a nightmare. but so are the Aquilini's. Sell the team, give uas long suffering fans a break!!! We will never have a championship as long as that sh*twhole family owns them!

  12. Please do a video on the inconsistent Rangers and why Lafreniere and Kakko haven't scored like the higher draft picks has in the past

  13. people are talking about Hart and Selke for Petey this year, how is Horvat mvp on this team?!? Horvat is a powerplay specialist. Petey has ten 5on5 goals!

  14. I'm curious as to how Canucks fans feel about Ilya Mikheyev? I was always under the impression that he had a VERY high ceiling, but he's plagued by inconsistency and injury troubles. If it wasn't for cap pressure, I think he's a fine player (maybe a bit pricey)..

  15. Benning was an absolute trainwreck of a GM. Signing Eriksson for 6yrs when the Sedins were only signed for 2 more, made no sense, it shouldve been no more than a3- 4yr deal- if he balked- so be it, because the window had truly already closed, this was a last gasp to stay a contender, but there were too many holes to fill, and this didnt even fill 1.
Even worse than the OEL trade (which did increase our talent level- but kept us in caphell for another 5 years) was the Toffoli acquisition (only made sense for a true contender) and the subsequent loss of Markstrom, Tanev and Toffoli…for jack squat. They had zero intention of signing any of them- and let them all walk. They couldve eaten half of Markstrom and Tanevs deals at the deadline- and got 1st rounders for each- even as rentals.

  16. If the Canucks (by some miracle) squeak into the playoffs and lose in 5 games in the first round, would that be a success, or would it compound the disaster?

  17. Don’t forget not signing Tanev when he was the guy that made Huggie B unreal. So sad.

  18. hey hockey guy! would a canucks package of garland and boeser be enough to get us noah dobson or brandon montour?

  19. I've heard this argument before, and before I complete your video, let me just say that the mismanagement is people hiring the managers not the managers.

I think I've never seen so many managers get the full blame by gambling with trades than in Canucks history, albeit I've only been in Canada since 2004, so I dunno much of Canucks trades prior to Sedins drafted after 1999, and reminder Trevor Lindin had 1-2 winning seasons prior to the twins yet he is the so-called biggest legend here somehow, where Sedins had more positive seasons.. Anyways here comes the start of all bets I saw, Mike Gillis, made cup finals ofc but burnt out after the Hodgeson project failed. He left the Canucks in bad shape too. And somewhere in there everyone left starting with Luongo to Kesler, Schneider until Sedins retired. Then in comes Benning era roster, we also talking hiring every manager that got fired quickly during this period, but player-wise 50% of newbie project worked out at the very least, others like Virtanen and Olli Ulevi not on good side. So, I predicted they're trending back down again maybe even getting eventually to that Sedins era where they make playoffs but, before such time is to come they'll fk up the assets majorly as thx to ur research, pointing to along these management bets on veterans and late picks, as matter of fact the only culture I've seen exist for Vancouver; is to hire these very low accountable or newb GMs & thx for that reminder, but clearly just about NOBODY running the team want to be held accountable long as they are running up the trades with go big or home deals xD

  20. Is Petterson even good? he's got that rinky dink mitch marner look and gets 'assists' more than goals. Like the Canucks aren't tough, no one's scared of playing against them. And they dont really have any A-list stars. I hate to say it cause I love the city…. but this the worst team in Canada right now. They need a complete overhaul before its too late

  21. If you would have just kept Toffoli and Tanev and not resigned Virtanen. The team would still be good. Got rid of Pearson and never signed Halak or Holtby. Had a 1, 2 goalie in Demko and Diepetro. No Cap Issues. Getting Schmidt instead of resigning Tanev was the worst move Benning has done and he did a lot. Probably have enough room right now too to resign Horvat. Tanev would be cheaper and better then OEL, Toffoli would be the same price as Garland and is better. Wouldn't be paying 2.5mill in Holtby and Virtanen.
